yeah that one kinda struck me as a bit odd as well when the screen popped up. at first I think it was because those modes weren't available in the demo.. then I realized what it was actually telling me... A bit of a miss for me...
Is that still happening? Can you at least choose between the arena bomb mode and the CTF mode? I thought I read in Discord that they were doing away with the number of games thing but maybe it was only the bomb mode game where you had to play 10 games of 4v4 and opened it up to allow you to play 7v7 CTF.
The contemporary gamer is spoiled af.
Normal person: "Hello, I feel the decision to force us to play the mode we do not like in order to play the mode we do like is not okay, especially today"
Little girl: "WHAT THE HELL? I AM NOT ALLOWED TO PLAY??? HOW ABOUT YOU MAKE A NORMAL GAME YOU SUCKERS? SH*T 2024 DEVS EAT A D*CK, I'M DEFINITELY LEAVING A 1-STAR REVIEW ON GOOGLE MAPS"
Also, those smaller games are supposed to teach new players about the mechanics and gameplay before throwing them into larger games' ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ where they act completely lost and have no idea what is going on. By the time they reach CTF they at least can ski and move, not just run the map on foot for 3 hours in one direction and then complain that the game is too slow lol. True story.
Honestly Craw, I played the 12v12, and while it was marginally better than the 4v4 bs, it wasn't much better...
I enjoy a good CTF match as much as the next guy, and i'd be stupid to think that CTF wasn't a staple of original tribes... but this just feels so tiny.. you can't hide anywhere, you can't actually snipe the way you could in T1 and T2, you can't defend the way you would in T1 and T2.. it just straight up doesn't feel right to me.. I went in to one match, and the match was over in under 10 minutes because one or two guys were apparently so pro at skiing, and just cycled the opposing teams flag over and over... it was kinda funny, but super disappointing at the same time.
This is definitely not what made tribes great in my opinion.
I'm not sure what you mean. I just chose 12v12 ctf and it has been working for me.
Yeah absolutely.. locking off play modes like that is a really REALLY bad design decision.. forcing playtime to make you "earn" the privilege to play with more players..
I keep seeing people saying that they changed their minds and unlocked it, but I still see locked game modes when I launch the demo..
And anyone making the argument that it's better for new players to experience 4v4 than to jump in to the "clusterf***" of a 12v12 to get used to the game... I just don't even know what to say to that.. just such a emotionally stunted and soft position to take... very odd
There's currently 17 players online total, lol. BTW, this thread is really old.
