I do like how Zen uses that ghost trail behind the ball, and with Zaccaria it uses a really cool shadow effect under and around the ball that I like even more. I tried a few different SFX for this title, including a ghost like trail, but in the end I just didn’t like any of it. I agree it could use SOMETHING, but I just couldn’t get any of the effects to look “sharp”, so I just left it the way you see it now.
Also, thank you for taking the time to post, and also really glad to hear you are enjoying the title.
By SFX I actually meant Sound FX. The audible sound of the ball rolling like it would on a real table. I didn't realize SFX meant Special FX lol.
I have played Zaccaria a lot actually, i have a ps5 and its pretty much the only pinball title i play on there. Don't get me wrong i do enjoy Zen pinball as well, but the pricing has gotten a little out of hand for me personally--- i own a lot of the tables from the last zen and I just don't want to re-buy all of them again. I sort of enjoyed the new pinball M release, i like a lot of things they did with it, but I didn't purchase it (yet).
As far as SFX, i get that confused as well, it definitely makes more sense for it to stand for sound effects instead of special effects but thats a topic for another day. As far as the ball rolling sound effect, it actually does have one but the volume of it is turned down to a pretty low setting as the majority of tables (if not all of them) have very specific rolling sound effects when the ball passes certain areas. I do agree it is maybe a bit to low, i went ahead and adjusted it and doubled the sound on it (the volume setting was at .25 and it is now at .50). However you wont see this live until the next patch, and currently I haven't had to fix any urgent issues (yet). Once the next patch goes live it will be apart of it :)
Nice! Thank you very much for upping the volume level. I use a quality headset and could not hear it at the current .25. Perhaps I needed to turn the in-game music volume down though. :)
Maybe the addition of a volume slider would work well for ball sounds? Though that solution may cause more headaches to program than it's worth.
Right now i had to switch over the entire project to create a demo, which, the demo will have the new adjusted ball sound effect level, but it will probably be next week before that gets patched into the full game simply because im now waiting on Steam to approve the demo (and i dont want to switch everything back over until the demo gets approved through steam).
I probably wont do a slider simply because in my experience of working with these titles if i try to add something like that i will break something else and then i will be going down a rabbit hole i want to try to stay out of (lol).
