How to equip things in the hotbar

how do I equip things in my hotbar?

It is a realy nice game, THX for the demo wichlist it ;)

Open the inventory, then pick something up (with a click), then drop it (with a click) into the top bar (not the hotbar that you can still see faded in the bottom)

You are not the first. It is a bit weird that it looks very much like the inventory and the hotbar is visible at the same time on the screen, but in a different position. The items that got auto-equipped into it are a good hint though.
