From The Depths
No more boarding and capturing ship's
Apparently in the standard campaign now you need a hearthstone to even be able to use your personal gun's now any way to revert this or do you need to go back to a older build/version of the game

Agree, the part of needing a heartstone to shoot a gun is not very good,

I only just realised this got added. The campaign is already hot stinky garbage. I swear the devs get off their faces before designing new updates.
While I don't mind using a tiny craft to capture it really not fair to those that enjoy capping.
A toggle would have been enough to keep everybody happy.

You are wasting your time complaining on here. Go add to this.

i like the change
boarding and claiming a ship was too free and effortless before
now you dont need rabot to actually live and can just focus on ship combat

I think I have capped 2 ships at the most. I would much rather blow stuff up. I would never have noticed the change without others pointing it out.
However it should have been a toggle, it is not fair to force players to mod their games especially when it is just a single player game.

Other people having free and easy stuff on their game has no impact on you or me.

there is mod in workshop https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3404600431&searchtext=energy

I have been in contct with the author because it is not working for me ... but this mod would fix campaign issues because you can always make an editted instance of Neter that does not need heartstones.

Especially annoying with those crappy little land bases that DWG have that seem to take forever to kill with aircraft. Was always much easier to just go in guns blazing. There used to be a game here, but now it seems to be like Space Engineers where it is really just for building cool stuff; not using it.

I hope that is not true .. .... i just got Space engineers and i realized the same thing ... it is not game it is a very nice tech demo. Got very empty and pointless ...

Playing space engineers got me wanting to play FtDs but when i cam back they had all these changes ... i am hoping that mod works eventually and then i can just remove the heartstone requirement from the Neter campaign ... i always mod the heck out of the neter campaign anyway ..

Yeah, I downloaded it as well. I tried out adventure mode, but that was just unplayable. Of course the campaign is not going much better. I am really trying but I think I am going to throw in the towel pretty soon.

Oh, mod seems to work. Had to install it and then restart the game to get it to work, but it works, thanks :D

Actually, it seems iffy...it worked, but then I had the same trouble as before. I had the LUA console mod I reinstalled too, that might be the culprit for the game acting ♥♥♥♥♥ in general; AI breaks, I can't get ACBs to work, etc. So I got rid of that, but now the energy drain is back. Might have been because I was on a ship that had heartstone earlier, and don't have 1 on current?

I am getting a fatal error with that mod at initialization .... i am talking to the author and they think it is a problem with how FtDs references .dlls ... i do not understand it lol

maybe if anyone here knows more about how do make mods on FtDs and wants to help out a couple of people who miss rambot :P

idk you can still do that just get a really large cram cannon for the large ai shattering explosion radius or a good fire rate mini gun to swiss cheese them (since its dwg fire also probably works)
I just played campaign, and capturing the land bases actually works quite well. you put a ship nearby and selectively kill the defense turret of the DWG landbase. once its defenseless you fly the avatar in on a little helicopter and land it on the roof of the building. shoot ourself through the roof and take out the AI -- weapon charge lasts long enough and you dont drain energy while on enemy construct nearby your own, only when on the ground or in water
and if you die, you can respawn on said heli a few seconds later.

btw the same trick also works with the fishing hole. except you approach with a submarine. fishing hole cant properly target under water so with a mini sub you can get close enough without getting hit to just jump on board, walk up all the stairs and kill the AI .

for these installations the heartstone requirement is really not an issue. your ammo lasts enough for the few doors and the ai block itself you need to shoot through.

it will be more tricky to take out larger craft i assume. i was trying to make a boarding craft with harpoons to attack ships from the bottom, but didnt get it to work yet. maybe time to try out the good old "drills" for that purpose
