Developers Good job!
If you have issues with the updates, just be nice and say good job! then quietly go and revert to last version! No need to be take your frustrations out on them they are still learning to code.

why praise failures? we gonna give them a participation trophy too?

Idk if you noticed but the developer team gets their kick from doing everything as quirky as possible, because they know better than anyone else. I.e. Camera mode that uses over 10 different keybindings and 15 odd keys to control, as a replacement for the "worse" simple and usable. Because that´s liked by "simple" people. I think the main thing is they cater to their fan base that plays designer mode exclusively and not the majority that plays adventure. So to that i say good job! (Campaign players are being angered by the camera change aswell it seems, not compatible there either.) I guess designer creatives are the only ones enjoying it? Maybe not even them?)

its a few extra hotkeys for swapping controls. its not very intuitive in the builder but he was trying to make ship controls and camera angle system more "refined" for combat. which it did do.

he will likely spend countless hours theory crafting a way to keep the new cam and controls while making everyone who doesn't want to learn the 3 new hotkeys happy.

and constructive critisism is lacking in the forums these days.

ok now this caught my attention lol, do you have any source to back that up? Because I've been looking for one to back up my own "the majority plays designer" claims for ages

Looking at every discussion a pattern is visible, those praising the camera change talk about its usefulness in campaign and designer, never mentioning adventure mode. Like the player base that plays adventure mode does not even exist. Those boo-ing the camera change all say how difficult it is to intuitively aim drive and what not. its true. Meaning they arent players who make AI pure machines that all you do with is watch it fight. The developers are also those who did not once think about adventure mode players with this obviously difficult camera type for those who fight adventure mode for action and not a cinema experience. I recently started making 4k resources player controlled nuclear missiles, as a cheap backup. Say goodbye to flying anything like that with the overly complex camera system. Evidence? Every single content creator on youtube, never mentioned adventure mode while describing how amazing the camera change is. Almost every single discussion i´ve seen talking negatively was about adventure mode. You have a camera tutorial from (gmodism) that is 50 minutes long. Lmfao. On the other hand (Borderwise) uploaded on youtube and it shows clear frustration for the camera mode inside of campaign mode. I wonder how long it takes the devs to take action, Maybe they choose to be defensive like (Gmodism).

idk about refined for combat. I do in fact move the cam, ship and fire guns at the same time on occasion. Which is now impossible. I'm not sure if this is just an adventure mode thing or not. I also build and move the ship at the same time, so if I am moving the camera from one side of the ship to the other I can't turn the ship towards the enemy/portal at the same time. The is especially frustrating in adventure mode because when ever you move the camera up the avatar jumps out of the seat and now your not locked to the motion of the ship so the screen starts bouncing. This for me is why I reverted update. I would give it another go they fix the jumping out of the seat issue.

temp fix is set rambots jump keybind to something else.

theres 3 buttons to swap to full control. middle mouse(cam edit mode) right click(bring up weapons) L ctrl (bring up ship controls.) Im assuming he intended people to be able to aim and move the camera. but having ship controls locked out caused a bug where "cam up" ejects you.

i think your intended to setup "view points" around your ship which u then tab between so u dont have to try to move the camera. once done shut camera edit off. its alot of steps for adventure mode that much is true.

Clearly you didn't check the keybindings section before posting. There isn't one for jump. Hence why I would even mention it. I don't care about whatever is intended, I care about whatever it actually is. Which until they fix the the jump issue, is unplayable for me in adventure mode.

You´re missing the point, You want constructive criticism on something that nobody appreciates except people who believe a 50 minute tutorial video on youtube on how to look around is fine. Nobody has anything constructive to say because the camera mode from the version we all play now (4.2 pre camera) is perfectly good, until this update was worked to function smoothly, it shouldnt have been squeezed in with christmas tree jets. Game is up for sale 50% off thats how much they respect their own work!

So far I've been fine with the changes. I doubt the people who dislike the changes are the majority; most who are fine with the changes probably just don't say anything.
Dunhill Dec 27, 2024 @ 3:43am
I like the update, but that's a really bad point.
They can do that for precisely one feature. Any other feature added after that will either make them have to deal with the camera or miss out on everything after the camera.

Silence is taken as a lack of caring usually, not the opposite. But you take the invisible majority you feel exists as your leading evidence for the update being loved.

frankly an oppinion i feel is sound is they should have made the cam stuff a changable THING, as in you have the control presets of old methoids the community are used too. then this new system they want to use. https://youtu.be/EJ_cKCHM8sQ in this vid you can see raw frustration of a the channel disliking the changes. reverting then throwing the idea of make it an option. frankly i hope they can figure that out and patch that in because i may not have done the twin controls much you made the most sound argument agenst it. but it seams devs got a patch in bound. that maybe doing what i speak of making it a toggle thing.
