So how is it - and is it worth it?
So I saw and wishlisted this game a long while back and a random youtube video reminded me of it. So I'm wondering how things have progressed with the game and, importantly, if its stable and fun to play in its current state and what the future holds.

So how has support and updating been from the developers? What kind of point is the game in; reading around it sounds like its sitll in the earlier stages where content and balance as well as crashing and errors are still all on the table and there's a fair bit of work to go. So how are the updates - are they making good progress and keeping up good communication?
Importantly is there a feeling that the developers have this under control or that its bigger than they can feasibly cope with? I ask as I know a fair few of the survivalist/minecraft clone type games and some turn out great; but many can get stuck in perpetual states of never getting near being finished*

On the game itself is it running fairly stable for most? It looks like there are some errors around and some issues with it slowing down and lagging with updating damage to vehicles?

And importantly is it at a stage where its fun? The concept sounds great; minecraft with vehicles; but is it fun? Can those without an artistic degree build entertaiing and fun ships - can the game provide entertainment?

*One can argue that minecraft was a lot like that - then again it had a huge fun factor and was mostly stable

fun, slow but stable, actively developed, updates multiple time a month with bugfixes and new parts. you can find some detailed overviews in one of the many other questions on these forums like yours

The dev is extremely active on the Official Forums of From the Depths, but sometimes he has commented on the Steam Forums.

The stable version is stable, the only problem really is frame-rate which the Dev has recongised and is working to optimize the game more.

Right from the bat the game could be fun, only problem for many new players?
Learning Curve.
Simple way to alleviate that is to watch either the Dev's video explaining the core mechanics on how to make a boat or watch others try and do it.

its worth it :) there are a bunch of other threads like this (that you can look up) from people just like you and then once they buy it they are pretty satisfied :)

you need to get this there is so much depth to it (no pun intended) it may seem overwhelming at first but the learning curve isnt that bad and after a while you will be able to build anything. even thought it is not released there is alot to play around with nothing important seems like it is missing. The game is mostly stable but the framerate will drop big time when you spawn alot of blocks. The game is fun however the first hour of the campiegn is slow and features battle between tiny canal boats and the occasional tiny zepplin/helicopter. I recomend this game fully.

Hmm I know some building games get slow down problems - Besige gets like it with a modestly big machine; but turn the game speed down and it smooths up very quickly. Has this game any similar approach or does one just have to live with the glitchy/laggyness?

this game also has a slow down method method where it pretty much goes slow motion when lags getting bad, plus it has a thing called "degraded mode" which essentially lowers graphical effects to make it run a bit better.

This game is great, has caused a serious backlog for me. I've spent far too much time just playing FtD.
