Cannon shooting too high
My turret mounted cannon is firing over the enemies it engages, particularly at longer ranges. It leads moving targets perfectly, but the shots consistently fly several blocks above the target. I know this isn't an issue regarding accuracy, as the gun's innaccuracy is 0.06.

I suspect this to be a problem witht the local weapon controller, as it is mounted to the bottom of the turret, at least 2-4 block below the firing piece itself. If this is indeed the issue, would placing a new weapon controller to the firing piece itself fix this?

Is the target stationary or moving? If it's moving then it will tend to overshoot depending on the speed of the vehicle.

Yes, usually the target is moving. I suppose it doesn't help that the target is usually 2+km away, either. I just find it strange that the horizontal leading is just fine, but the vertical leading isn't right. I figured it would be the other way around.
Thats pretty normal honestly. You can try staggering the fire a little bit if you got mutliple barrels, that way if it misses you don't miss all three barrels. Hopefully anyways sometimes they still all miss.

Agh, that's unfortunate. I tried extending the barrel length so that the muzzle velocity would get the shell to the target faster, but I think it's already too long for much improvement. Thanks though

there is a point of minimal returns on barrel length. im not sure what its at though. try changeing setting in turret for,,,, shoot i forget setting name :-( i know there is one that designates where cannons aim. unless im mistaken :-(

Best option is to learn lasers. :D Good damage, long range, and it's point and shoot. :D
Yeah use lasers if you want perfect accuracy, but be warned they are expensive to make and cheap ones are absolute junk.

Definitely more late campaign but I found necessary against the Lightning Hoods. Their lasers were just ripping right through me. haha Got my own set and BAM!

Do you happen you know the maximum range of lasers? The only power of my fleet, so far, is hard hitting weaponry with absurd range, and I was wondering if laser would be a good addition.

I can engage targest over 2km out without a problem.
My space laser hits things just under 3000m. It might say something stupid like it has 400km range, but they never do. Laser are totally good hard hitting ranged weapons, but due to most ships having their vitals under the water line they are best when fired from high up. Lasers have horrible dmg when passing through water so ship vs ship cannons will win against lasers in my experience. Now if your laser is hitting from above like from space or on an airship the water wont ever block your laser and it pierces straight into the ai core. Another nice feature about lasers is against aircraft they never miss so the high mobility with low armor does them no good against a laser.

ya for AA they seem good.
Yeah I got 4 aimed straight up that cant really shoot ships just for anti air. Its marvelous, they basically take over when the other laser cant hit.

Aircraft tend to hover over you so verticule ones help alot. or they tend to hover over me lol
