Laser Guided Missile Question.
So I built a plane and on each of it's two wings it has a missile and that missile has 2 connected "Missile Laser Emitters" one on top of each wing and one on the bottom of each wing. These two Missiles are currently actually one Weapon, they are linked. It currently works perfectly.

When I was looking at the actual missile components themselves I noticed the Missile component "Laser Designator Receiver" Has a options field where:

0.0 to 1 = Aim at our Laser's only.
1.1 to 2 = Aim at Vehicle's Laser's only.
2.1 to 3 = Aim at our Team's Laser's only.

My questions is does this feature work? I have already built a 360 coverage of "Missile laser Emitters" on my plane and I intend to have more weapon systems and I would like them to also use these lasers for aiming. I have tried to build an independent missile and make it target based off of these existing emitters but it doesn't work.

Also to make sure the missile is constructed correctly I made a temporary missile laser emitter just for it and it worked.

I've posted about this before so I'm just going to quote myself:

To make a 'wireless laser emitter', do the following:

1. Set up your missile system as per normal:
a. Ensure it has its own Missile Controller and
b. A Local Weapon AI controlling it.
c. Also ensure that your Local Weapon Controller is connected to a mainframe either directly or by transceiver/receiver.

2. Decide where you want your Laser Emitter to be and
a. Connect a new Missile Controller either directly or by 6-way Missile Connectors to your Emitter
b. Connect a new Local Weapon Controller to control this Missile Controller.*
*Double check this step. Local Weapon Controllers only have a 2 block range around it(no diagonals)
c. Ensure this Local Weapon Controller is connected to the same mainframe as above either directly or by transceiver/receiver.
d. Press Q on your Laser Emitter and change the setting so that it is either 'My Vehicle's missiles only' or 'My team's missiles'. The latter option will cause this Laser Emitter to guide missiles from other vehicles belonging to your team.
e. Build your missile and ensure it it has a Laser Designator Receiver. Does not work with only Laser Beam Rider Receiver (unless you have both a designator and beam rider on the same missile)**.
f. Change the setting on the right "Aim at..." to a value greater than 1.0 so that it reads 'Aim at vehicle's lasers only' or 'Aim at our team's lasers only'.

Tada!

Here's a picture to show you how I did it:

**Irrelevant but this is useful if the enemy uses Smoke defence to prevent your Emitters from targeting them as your missiles will still 'ride' the beam. Beam riding requires an additional Emitter to be directly connected to your missile system, i.e, no wireless function yet. Maybe Nick will do something about it? :D

I want to add that for some reason doing the above will result in the laser emitters ignoring the Target Prioritisation Card on the Mainframe, ie, it returns to default priority settings. Haven't found a way to get around that.

Thanks for the information, I never thought to actually go to the laser emitters and see if they needed to be set correctly. I spent like 3 hours trying to figure this out, haha.

About the target prioritisation card comment, does it only revert to default settings if no actual missiles are physically connected to the emitters system? I ask because I really want these missiles specifically for AA.

That's my guess. I haven't tried it with another group of missiles connected directly to the emitters.

this oddly doesnt work for a missile ive already setup. i however made the most of setups on the side of my ship and it does work. Oddly enough, the wireless setup of the reciever works on the simple setup without doing step 2d and 2f. However i cannot get it to work on my normal one for some reason. This is one of the reasons i love and hate this game. im so reluctant to have 5/6 laser emitters connected on separate 6 way connectors for each of my 4 missile weapons. I will have no hull, just a wall of 6 way connectors!
