How To Lower Sails?
So, I've managed to get a decent set-up, the ship seems to be quite fast, except that I haven't figured out the most important thing. How do I control the masts and the sails (winches, to be exact)? There doesnt seem to be a decent guide anywhere.

If you want to do everything yourself I can't really help you but if you want some AI control you should place your masts on spinblocks(which should be able to spin 360°) and place sailwinches on the ends of your sails. Then just setup a mainframe that has a naval AI card and a sailing card.

Use a ship wheel, or if you must use a vehical controller find the appropiate button in the v menu to change hydrofoils to winches

Ah, so the gigantic wheel has the advantage of being preset for sailing?

Can I set the mainframe to work the sails on a hybrid sail-winch boat?

By hyprid do you mean both sail types on the same ship then yes. If you mean something else by hybrid please explain.

No, one with engines as well. Yes, I've just checked that there is a control option like that.

No, I haven't gotten the AI to work.

How do I spawn a ship I've subscribed to?
SievertChaser Sep 16, 2015 @ 1:56am
Wait, does ONLY the large wheel allow you to control the sail booms?

You spawn a ship you've subscribed to by first, actually downloading the ship via the workshop tool on the bottom right corner of the main menu. Once it's downloaded it will be saved under whatever assetname the author gave it in your folder in the blueprints list.

As to the most recent querry... I have no idea since I only ever use the big wheel. You have to wait on someone else to verify... or When I do get around to actually checking it.

It seems to be the case, the option to control the booms appears immeditaly upon placement of the big wheel.

Yes the AI will use both propellers and sails at the same time but if you allow the AI to sail upwind(press q on the sailing card) it might happen that the AI will pull all sails if they would be a hindrance to movement.

Unfortunately thus far the sail adjustment AI hates me and refuses to function as intended.

It might help if you changed the parameters on the sailing AI card. I used the parameters I found on the Bayleaf.

the sailing card has parameters? I will see what I can do about booms on a vehical controller

you will need a custom controller If you do not want to use a ships wheel for turning the sails, or just let the AI determine the proper angle

I can combine a normal wheel with the small one.
