Laser designator triggering missile defenses on own ship
Any way to stop this?

What?
Laser designators (yours? Enemy's?) are causing your ships actual anti-missile/missile countermeasure stuff to go off/deploy/fire?
If that is the case, check the ACBs to see what is set for them to trigger missile countermeasures to be deployed.

If that is a typo of the 'wrong word' variety, and you mean your laser designators are causing laser defenses (smoke) to be deployed, then there is nothing I can think of to stop it, other than not use one or the other, or to try and mount the emitters in a place where they have less of a chance of hitting parts of your own ship.
I have no idea if it is a bug or a feature with how laser warners work.

yes, my laser designating beams are "resting" and hitting my ships bow, triggering my laser defense smoke.
It makes no sense, and is very annoying, as it's triggering the bow smokers, which means my lasers -when they DO fire at teh start of a fight- have to punch through my own smoke first (not to mention, if the enemy uses smoke, I start off with 40 seconds before I can use it to defend)

I got around it by moving the laser designators up higher so they don't hit the bow "at rest" so much, but it was a strange and annoying probem.

I don't mind it to much, since smoke does seem to mess up laser guided missiles if beam riders are not used, so in a way it makes some sense for even the laser emitters to trigger smoke.

I do similar as far as placement, trying to place laser emitters so their beam does not hit part of the ship 'at rest'.
