Making a heavy ship float.
What things do I need to make a Full Metal block ship float? Currently using Air pumpand it doesn't work, or I just don't get how it works .-.?

1. check air pump to see if has any leaks reported.

2. can replace bottom of hull with wood or alloy to increase bouency and decrease weight. "im not positive on weight i never look my self on weight stats lol"

3. can "cheat" and place propellers under the ship facing downward and conected to MAIN setting. this with cause downward thrust and can raise ship when under movement

all metal boats CAN float. but since a patch or two ago their abilities to float and whats needed to make them float has changed it seems. so i can not give you a direct answer at this time :-(

im not sure what else could do. depending on ship size if evough room inside maybe use some balloons? this is purw guess as nvr used tactic myself. just what popped in my head that is designed for balast or raiseing constructiosn upwards :-)

i hope one of the three "four" suggestions helps you :-)

Thanks ! Step 3 worked, now my first metal hull is floating. Cheers

Chances are you simply didn't have enough bouyancy from air pumps to overcome the weight of your ship. Bouyancy is based on the amount of open air/space around the air pump, and viewing the air pump will tell you the volume of air/space available to it.

So for example if you had an air pump encased it would not generate any bouyancy - or if the inside of your ship has compartments, you'll need a pump in each of them.

Alright, thanks ! My air pumps are used wrongly from what I see.... It's inside the engine room. My bad haha

oops i should of mentioned that :-( but i told you some one with more knowledge would explain better or have another idea :-)

but with using both of the options might be able get ship to exact float height you want :-)

use hydrofoils with some acbs
dragonsphotoworks Oct 18, 2015 @ 6:24pm
ya but need bunch of hydrafoils.. "hmm if use jet stabs and engines do need lot also..." but also a lot of people have trouble setting acbs right "me included lol"

place an acb and set: when depth is below 0 (for exampole) turn on hydrofoils to +45 degrees. You are done.

ya would work well. my only issue is the amount of ACB and hydra foils would need. unless there a trick i dont know of?

Issue with #3 is that if your ship was to tip to much, the propellers will send it in that direction.

Air pumps are too unreliable to use in my opinion. Enemy ships usually have lots of weapons, many of which are designed to put holes in your ship. If the enemy puts holes in your ship, guess what happens to your 'air pockets'?

Ship being targeted enters submarine mode and becomes much harder to hit while the rest of the fleet safely keeps pelting the enemy? Seems like a nice feature if you ask me..

I've never had a ship not float? Even a ridiculously big Battleship made out of solely metal. For me it's always plop an air pump here and there and it floats.

I will say that the only time a metal ship sank on me was yesterday. I've made some massive metal hulls with armor on them and they managed to float. This one... after I saved and logged back in with it, I received an error box on my screen. Anytime I tried to launch the ship after htat, It sank all the time.

I reloaded the game again and it floated just fine.

Building things like the superstructure out of alloy also helps to avoid deep sinking and also makes the ship more stable. If you don't want to do so just add multiple floors and/or compartments out of wood or alloy on the inside. They will keep you afloat in the case of a hole.
