Camera follow vehicle key
I`ve noticed people having their camera follow a vehicle and I was wondering what key it is to activate that function.

It seems like I`ve been missing out.

If you're sitting in the vehicle and then press Tab, it will give you 3rd person camera. It should then stay locked to your movement as long as you don't change the view.

Going to any of the map screens will unlock the camera from the vehicle you are on. :)

I knew that one but I believe there is another one. Because people have the camera sticking to drones and such while their on a ship.

(although technically every vehicle is a drone in this game)

Hmm, it might possibly be build mode? I know that locks your camera to a ship. With the UI off and the little buildy block hidden, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference other than the restricted zoom distance. I'm not aware of any other methods and there's nothing in the key configs to indicate a button.

Maybe a build conduit on the other ship although Im not 100 percent sure how those work.

Necroing because this thread has a high SEO ranking for some reason.

You're looking for SHIFT+CAPS-LOCK while in "detached mode" (double tap E). This will lock your camera on you vehicle allowing you to orbit it with mouse movement.

I`ve no idea what a SEO ranking is but thank you, although I haven`t played from the depths in literal years :P

basically if you search on google how to make the camera follow the vehicle, this thread is one of the first results, but there's no answer here! Too me a while to figure out how to do this so I thought I'd help other peeps :D

Well, thanks for answering the ancient question! Something I've been wondering for quite a while. Is this also the method for locking the camera onto a projectile? That's something I've been wondering about even more, TBH.

Yep it's the same method, aim at the projectile and hold CAPS, then press SHIFT. (The order matters, I think) Works for enemy projectiles and everything. A downside is that you don't get to see the little projectile UI window, like when you fire projectile on a craft you control, and then follow it using caps-lock.
