Why does my gun do that?
Got the game a few days ago, and decided to build my first railgun ever. And noticed that, upon shooting, it shoots 3 shells at once (single blast, not a burst) like a shotgun instead of just one. What may be the cause (and cost) of this?

If the cooldown is low enough, it'll fire every shot available in rapid succession (and then pause while the loaders are reloading).
If you have a railgun with only railgun casing and no gunpowder charges, the gun barrel doesn't heat up (or doesn't heat up as much)

if you left the rate of fire to a default value (2400rpm) its likely dumping some spare ammo from your magazines before hitting a cooling limit, try and balance out your cooling and ammo intake then adjust your rate of fire to match

or go the other way and juice your cooling limit if you want to dump the whole mag

its because your using less power per shot then you have stored. the rail parts that go on the barrel are capacitors. lets say each one stores 5000 energy. and your using 1250 energy per shot. you have power for 4 shots and if your fire rate is maxed. youll pop all 4 near instantly.

my brap cannon uses this to dump 30 shells on the opening volley
