From The Depths
Of Turrets, Boyancy and ships
Does the game calculate the space between the hull of a ship and a turret, if flush, as an open space or closed space? The turret compartments inside my hull occasionally get flooded. The airpump says 1 leak, where my turret is. I have blocked off the closest areas inside my hull where my turrets are located.

Unless the 2 blocks are connected (not just touching) then its an open space. Sometimes you can put a few layers and it will see it as closed, but dont always work. If your building pedestal style turrets ya need to try and make the below deck bits as compact as possible.

if you have a single point of penitration, and a 3m thick deck, then it is possible to make it see as "closed" otherwise, do an internal compartment around your turret, because it will leak.

Alternatively, you can plug the hole with light blocks. They are water tight and will not interfere with the turret.

Go for breakthroughs answer, it's the easiest ;)

keep in mind light blocks are explosive, and you only need 1 layer to seal it.

Light block explosion is so weak they don't even chain react, and the turret is probably messed up anyway if shots are scrouring out the hole in the deck. But sanosukesoceio is right that you should generally only use the minimum you need.

Nice, Thanks for the help.

Oh that's cool, thanks for the info. My Submersible Battleships always resurfaced really slowly because of the flooding in the turrets. This should help a bit.
