How do i use a PID to keep the ships yaw axis stable
When I just place a PID and set input and output to yaw(i have yaw thrusters) it feels as if I have to fight the PID to turn the ship, and it then just adjusts back to the direction it was pointing when I set it. Is there some way to have the PID shut off while I turn the ship and then turn back on?

sounds about right
a yaw PID will try to keep the vehicle pointed to where its yaw direction points at
you probably shouldnt have a yaw PID for you if you want to control the ship yourself

Generally, automatic behavior is separate from the manual. You press C and turn movement off. If your craft relies on automatic stabilization to move, then you could use the breadboard to shut down the yaw PID with a complex control or something. Alternatively, you could still turn the movement off if your stabilization PIDs are on a breadboard.
