I think a grid on the map is roughly 5000 meters long and wide, but not 100% sure, its some time ago when I tested it
You can tell because that is how far away an enemy ship needs to be before you can begin a battle.
difficult cuz the scale will shift based on zoom level.

Same here...... Rufus is a genius with LUA, and normally is a goodfella, but lately he's been rather "off" with people........ wazzthematter Rufus bro?!
But, yeah, simple thing to do would be to use ACBs with range brackets activating or deactivating lights. There, simple solution to do.
And even *I* could do that with ACBs!!!!! Could have lights turn yellow if >1km <3km and red if under 1km away.
