I prefer advanced cannons because I hate close ranging DWG when their cannons are huge af. If you can outrange your enemy that is half the battle won.

If you mix tracer rounds with your regular shells at a 1/2 ratio or 1/6 ratio it helps tons and you still dont miss out on much damage while proving a much higher accuracy.

it depend on the use i personaly love the 2 of them depend on whats you want to built cram are less acurate but are more reliable on the damage but the advance make awsome flack and emp gatling

I honestly haven't had any use for CRAMS since the APS were introduced. APS are harder to figure out, but generally outpreform CRAMS at every range I fight at.

Massive burst dmg favors CRAMS, but Adv Cannons offer alot more flexability and with the right setup can be just as damaging. I also feel Adv cannons are easier to scale up or down and are much better for fighting small, fast things.

The advantage with CRAM cannons is that they are less complicated to build, usually being the first of the two to be made by a beginner player. They are also much cheaper compared to Advance cannons, better for making cheap ships with strength in numbers. They also cost less to fire, and can deal much more devastating shots when done properly. However they are slower in fire rate compared to Advance cannons, and larger cannons can take a full minute to fire again(although this might be disproven when connecting ammo reserves to the auto-loaders, but i don't do that cuz i don't see if it does anything in advantage). They are also slower in general, making them ineffective at taking on smaller and faster targets.
Advanced cannons, on the other hand, are much more flexible both in design and ammunition type, especially with the recent update with 4-way gauge connectors. When done right, can inflict tons of damage quickly with a fast fire rate, plus they are more effective anti-missile cannons(if you build those) than CRAM cannons. You can also have two different turrets with the same design but different bullet composition. Not to mention they can be configured into rail-guns as well. However, their price is comparable with missiles, being much more expensive than the CRAM cannon. They are also more complex, it took me a while to learn how to construct a Advanced cannon properly(it was the lack of gunpowder casings).

So... I'm curious. Why do you think this person is still waiting for a reply more than 4 years after the question was asked?

what compels people to comment on an 8 year old thread?
funny
Back when (2015-2016), you had two kinds of people in FtD. People who insisted that APS was useless because custom cannons were so busted, and people who realised quickly just how utterly broken early APS was. And then CCs changed to Crannons.
