The Heart stone problem
i find it a masive incoviniece for the player about the way heart stones work as they are now, and i understand its part of the game and all that but it limits a feature that has been in the game for a long time, boarding and capturing ships, in some of my previous playthrough's of ftd i have nearly always tryed to capture the enemy ships mainly becuse it adds to my fleet and it's a free way to get ships at the enemy's expence but with the heart stones as they are now you cant go further than 10 meters before you the player have a heart attack (no pun intended) (and yes ik it isnt 10 meters) and this leads to a feature that has been in the game longer than the way heart stones work now it would be fine if you had something like a range booster, and to top it off most ships don't have them since they had no use (not to mention the engine change too) and this is just makes the heart stone nothing but a liability to the player since they cant run out and save a dying ship or capture a crippled one so i honestly dont understand why the ftd devs would do this as it counters so many features that have been in the game far longer than they have i would undersand if the player could not regenarate health outside the range (or at a very slowed pace)of the stone but flat out dying is just annoying and this is why they are a problem

and before people say "but its part of the challenge" i understand but this is my personal oppinon and its just a pain to deal with

It's not like the enemy AI's fleet has an avatar which can try to capture your ships either.

im bloody glad they cant, i would hate to have them cap my main destroyer fleet, 480k blocks in 5 ships, that would be insane to try and stop

The heartstone is inconvenient when you want to retrofit your ship. If it is not in the same place on the new design it will be removed and the new one probably won't be placed soon enough to avoid game over. You end up having to just throw down a heartstone anywhere right after you start retrofitting then you have to remove it and place it manually somewhere else once the retrofit is done..

That would be so cool. If a ship is within jumping distance, NPC spawner guys could leap over and start tearing things up. Ditto with NPCs on your own ship. They could fight each other.

im glad to see people agree with me on this point in my ftd runs i usualy turtle the first few dwg attacks by building a large long ragne railgun on the island near the spawn then capture anything that get close and turn it agininst them like the drake colum they send ill cap a few of them so i have some flyers (since i suck at making them) and then i cap a few more things and anything i dont need i scrap and use that to build shrikes and i repeat this process and very soon i can then start to experiment with ship's (so me just failing to build efficient engines and hull's) because i dont have the worries of dwg retaliation and i do this for every faction and it wokrks but with the heart stones as they are now i cant do this

I like to have my lineup of designs ready when I start a campaign. Replacement minimalist fort. Small starter ship, but good enough that I'll keep them around a long time. A few medium vessels with different armament and roles. I rarely have a good capital ship that I like, but I don't need one for the first few factions.

Also, a radar. And a good resource shuttle to slurp up the available resources in zones and take it where it's needed.

I really don't get why they don't just make it an option for campaigns.
