Then you set all your main forward drives to POSITIVE input on "PRIMARY" and then place a drive maintainer next to your complex controller. You can then set T as a positive and G as a negative in the drive maintainer.
Then T and G will gradually throttle everything that has "PRIMARY" set to positive input. Just like with every other craft, jets, boats, etc. Of course you can pick any other button, but just replicating the vanilla controls is more intuitive.
If you have an airship that is hovering in the air with downward facing jets, you can set all of those jets' positive input at "SECONDARY"
Then you add another drive maintainer to your controller, pick secondary drive mode, set U as positive and J as negative. Then you can hold down U to have the vertical jets lift you up harder and keep you in the air, or hold down J to turn them off again, sending you plummeting down again.
Place the propellers, set all of them so that "PRIMARY" is coloured green.
That's it. Hold T and they should start working.
Actually, that's kind of annoying since I want the vertical lift to also perform as an RCS module as well as VTOL functions... I suppose I'll have to just take it as a held-key function.
Second, if I have a DM on one complex controller set for primary drive and a second DM on a second Complex controller set for secondary drive will sitting at either controller allow me to use both drives or do I need to redesign my pilot's bridge so that both controllers each have two drive maintainers?
