I built my ship backwards. . .
I need to know how to rotate my vehicle's orientation 90 degrees. I've looked at many already existing forums, but they all talk about a now nonexistent button on the top right of the vehicle load screen.

If that's not there, chances are something is broken on your end.

Okay, I just went into the "creative" mode and did that, but I can't get it to happen in the single player story where it actually matters.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I wouldn't have enough materials if I tried spawning it in the start of the campaign. I built the ship as I got more resources, if I were to try and restart my campaign I would just have to build a new ship.

If you try to retrofit an old ship with a new ship costing the same amount of material I think you could flip it with no cost, but I haven't tried this in the campaign.

You start with a small ship, then get another, then another and so on. OR you start with a small ship, destroy it to get 100% of resources back, then build a bigger ship and so on.

You NEVER want to waste time manually building a ship in the campaign because it takes a very long time, and the time you spend building your ship the enemies spend making themselves stronger.

Also, manually rebuilding a ship every time either takes a lot more time than designing new and exiting ships, or makes a really poor result. Not a good idea..

Then how strong should I build my first ship?
Eudaimonia Mar 17, 2019 @ 3:37pm
Well if you upgrade the resource generation on the starting fortress and sell some of the junk then you have about 15 000 resources instantly. But the starting fortress itself is awful so if you replace it you will have even more.

A 15K resource ship should be more than most DWG fleets can handle.

I spawned a ship, and 40 minutes in I got blockaded by a flagship that endlessly fired missiles at me and destroyed my ship. I need to know if I'm just really bad at the game, or if there's something wrong.

Are you still experiencing the backwards built ship? And you are not bad at the game, you just haven't mastered it, this game is undoubtedly hard and you just need to spend time mucking around in the designer. Look at faction ships and reverse engineer them. Even steal thing off of them, just keep at it. At first you might need a ship 2 times bigger than the faction crafts just to beat them, eventually you'll build smaller and more efficient. Just keep at it. And i believe if you save your ship from the campaign then before you spawn it into the designer, the flip blueprint button should be top right corner before you press build blueprint in the spawn screen. Escape then load craft, then click your craft and the button should be there.

To figure out if your designs are good enough for the campaign you can test them in the designer. In the designer you can press the "x" button to bring up a menu that can spawn in every enemy from the campaign, and you can test your ships or fleet against them and compare how many resources you need compared to them to beat them. To see additional info about a ship point your cursor at it and press "v". You can also use this to scout out their weaknesses, and tailor your ships for every faction.

Remember that in the campaign that resources decides the winner. It's not enough that your ships can kill other ships without sinking themselves, they also have to do it cheaply. Rockets and torpedoes use a lot of ammo, so if they miss then those are resources you are dumping in the ocean. If you have lots of repairbots on your ships then they are hard to sink, but they will eat a lot of resources in the process and it would have been better if they sank.

Ps. the DWG (first enemy faction) are very weak to radar seeking missiles and torpedoes.

Thanks! And yes I fixed the problem.
Trincate Mar 18, 2019 @ 6:01pm
why do you keep commenting that?
Kamama Hairless Apr 28, 2019 @ 3:35pm
I'ts not that hard guys c'mon!
Follow these steps to fix your stupid mistake

1) Build a new ship made up of 2 1x1 light alloy beams

2) Have the 1st beam 40 meters long

3) Have the 2nd beam 10 meters long going right through the middle of the first beam

4) It should look exactly like a "t"

4a) USE GRID BUILD FOR STEPS 5-9 (PRESS F3 TO TOGGLE IT AND PRESS F3 TO EXIT GRID BUILD)

4b) Grid Build is required, using it requires skill I suggest you learn to use it prior to doing this.

4c) Check the orientation of the "t" by going to the map. Zoom in until it switches from the map to the combat view.

4d) Got the orientation of the "t"? Good. Now paint the front of the "t" red and paint the back end of the "t" green. It doesn't matter the color just remember which is which.

5) Capture a prefab of your ship, don't worry about your precious spin blocks and turrets.

5a) If your ship is really big take multiple prefabs of it.

6) Line-up the first portion of your prefab or your ship prefab at the back of the "t".

7) Make sure the FRONT/BOW OF YOUR SHIP CONNECTS to the rear of the "t"

8) Place the rest of your ship

9) Place your peashooters and spin blocks, or whatever you missed. Do this using "Save Object" and "Load Object" after pressing E in build mode. It should be on the bottom left of your screen if you are working on a sub-construct such as a turret or a spin block.

10) Check orientation on map

11) Good? Have fun you idiot don't mess up like this again.

12) You messed up? Destroy the mess you just made and start from step #1.
