My Ai is just firing missiles randomly [S]
My Ai is just firing missiles randomly. It fires them in a general arch in any direction. It's directing connected to the mainframe and my boat has tons of detection. All the other guns work just fine. I seriously don't know why, was there an update or something? Can they no longer be controlled like any other weapon?

A few things come to mind.

Does the missile head have guidance? Radar guidance, IR, remote ect. Do you have your missile launcher on a turret? Silly question probably, but it never hurts to make sure.

Secondly, you may need to open up the menu for your Missile Controller and go over to the last tab on the right, and select "use required accuracy on hull". Also check the missile controller for the firing degrees. If it's set to max it will just fire missiles blindly.

Lastly just make sure you don't have an ACB or anything that's told to trigger weapon systems.

That sounds like you are using remote control without enough GPP. Try add more GPP cards.

And if you decide use guidance i would recommend radar guidance with one turn module and delaying guidance activation about 3-4 s. You can use one turn instead of fuel tank if you use free internal space for fuel, one turn has cca 90% fuel of fuel tank.

One-turns are your friend

I heart one-turns

I don't know what you mean, I don't see anything that GPP could stand for.

I have 4 radars in each direction and tons of other detection.

What do you mean by fuel? They use ammo don't they?

I don't know what a one-turn is but it sounds like being able to turn the other direction would help.
I can't even get my missiles to fire when I enable "Use required accuracy on hull"

They don't have to be on a turret. I was just trying to cover all the bases to find out what was wrong =)

When guidance for missiles is mentioned, we mean in the missile customization menu, the tip of the missile is fitted with a certain type of guidance, or remote guidance is chosen as one of the modules.

There are some modules for missiles that fulfill a purpose but leave empty space, so that you can fit fuel or more damage into a missile without needing to make them bigger necessarily. When you click on that particular module for the missile (thing like APN guidance, one turn, ect) you get the standard mumbo jumbo of how to configure it, but also something that says "use free internal space for =" the = being your choice of fuel, damage, ect.

Use required accuracy on hull tells it that it needs to fire only on targets it can "see" in the direction facing away from the launcher itself. For the sake of explanation think of it like a broadside cannon on a ship, it can only fire off to one side, right? That's basically what use required accuracy on hull tells it, for whichever direction it is facing, whether it be backwards/forwards/left/right ect. This is helpful for situations when you don't want missiles just kinda firing off in every direction. And the firing angle in the missile controller will determine it's field of "vision" basically, allowing or denying it to fire based on that.

One turn tells the missile that when it fires, it needs to point itself at the intended target right away, even if the radar or other guidance on the missile hasn't activated yet.

If you still can't seem to get it working feel free to drop a blueprint on the workshop. I don't mind taking a look.

Oh you select the missile base itself not the controller, Thank you

GPP= General Purpose Processing card. It is an ai component that gives processing power to your mainframe. Without it your ai cant process data from your detection components and cant guide remote guidance missiles.
