solution:
have your ships run on something more efficient (rtg, fuel engines with turbo/superchargers instead of injectors).
your ships shouldnt use much resource at all when out of play, and if they cant even sustain that then your ships need OVERHAULS.
there are about 5 resource zones that the deep water guard has in its arsenal. take them all and collect from all of them at once.
yes, youre missing the whole game if youve only attacked the DWG. i suggest attacking the onxy watch next, as they have slow, lumbering ships that are relatively weak against subs/torpedos, but do heavy damage when you get hit.
you need to think efficiency in the early campaign. small, fuel efficient, highly effective against the enemy until you can afford to fuel larger constructions.
All of the resource areas, and I mean all, are expended by the AI by the time we get to capturing them. I think our ships could be a little more efficient, but they really aren't that bad overall. It's just that there are no resource areas that aren't used up anywhere except for the one we captured and rely on now. Once that's gone, there's nowhere to go to get more.
So go fight stuff, basically, and stop waiting so long before you go on the offensive.
i agree. the old method had the occasional infinite reserve resource zones and a number of limited zones. the ai did not utilize resources so it essentially "cheated" resources into its pool. this method is a lot better.
