Previous saves prior to 2.7 will most probably not work as mentioned in the update post. I dont know when you started your new campaign, so I thought id mention that.
Make sure you are not subscribed to any mods on steam and run steam file verification tool. If that does not work, check this folder C:\Users\yourusername\Documents\From The Depths\Mods make sure it does not have anything in it apart from disabled.json or completely empty.
If there is a profile in this location called "temp" delete it and try run the game
C:\Users\yourprofile\Documents\From The Depths\Player Profiles
If the problem persists, check your antivirus and make sure that these 3 locations are set as exceptions
1. Your steam installation of FTD. Default is: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\From The Depths
2. The windows user profile locallow folder: C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\LocalLow\BrilliantSkies
3. Your FTD profile. Default is: C:\Users\yourusername\Documents\From The Depths
Lastly if that does not resolve the issue, back up your player profile folder (copy paste somewhere else). Uninstall the game and go to the 3 locations above and remove any files or folders that are left behind.
Reinstall and try the game out and if all is well replace your player profile.
