Whats the best ship to start a campaign?
I'm new to campaigns and can't get the hang of them. What should I do?

Personally, I build a capture platform with harpoons and a crapton of short range emp damage. Things are much more effecient starting off after scrapping a few riverhomes and atlas.

best ships are the ones you build yourself

the premade player ships are all in all pretty terrible with not much thought put into / creator went more for looks than efficency, but still better than nothing

I agree, because one day you won't find a clear counter to a faction, and will have to make your own design, as such, it is best for you to gain knowlage right now, instead of struggling later on.

Im building my own but theyre not that good. Im stugling with the AI as the Guns are always really jerky and rarely get a good shot off a statioanry object.

Sounds like you may not have proper detection equipment installed.

What do you need beacuse im using what the in gam tutorial told me. I gather its probably not the best set up.

a Mainframe with Processing Cards to get enough Process Power, 360 degree detection and a Gimbal Tracker, thats the basic

you could just go the cheap way like I do in the beginning, make a torpedoe boat that only costs 10k engage the enemy at max range (around 5000m) and just spam torpedoes
cheap and effective

having a ship that spams radar or IR missles is the easy way to play in the beginning.
just make sure you have a 360 camera and een radar gimbal tracker to control your missles

There was a starter series of various ships made from the rib raft. These are great cheap craft that are usable for early game.

Here's one I uploaded that is better than the default ones, and about the same price. Hope it helps!

For 10k resource you can build a small but fast thrustercraft with 2*16 missiles. It's pretty effective.
If you like i can upload it.

^ After my main first boat with a single CRAM turret didn't quite do enough, I refitted the starting_rib a bit so that it carried a torpedo and AI. Still super cheap, so you can throw like 8-10 of these against 2-3 opponents.

Lately, I start with one of my Thoat Punchers. It works really well against DWG.
