From The Depths
ashes of the empire campaign kinda sucks. for me anyways.
the whole doppleganging thing is absurb. its pretty unbalanced. but heres my overview on the whole campaign.

the whole 3 resource point thing is a pain in the butt. especially since they get frequently attacked making it near impossible to rack up resources and defend all 3 at once. the regular doppleganging on even the most easiest of difficulties makes things just plainly absurd. i'd like to see if the game dev/s can actually survive both dustwind and steel empire with only 15 minutes of build-up time. now that would be interesting to watch :O

APS guns tearing alloy and metal armors to shreds, even on the lowest possible difficulty settings.... this is shocking... moderate charged shields with moderate effect strength also getting destroyed with ease. lots of swarming. cram guns are missing regularly in this campaign on my crafts, i dunno why. they just overshoot their mark at least 65% of the time, even with good radar tech, they still miss so frequently. even with well built crams too.

you can't retrofit the starting fortress? aww. well. that sucks. :L the volume thing is ok, i don't mind it. but you can literally cheese it by pulling a T.G and making crafts become some ungodly mecha with docking stations. also mechs and helicopters don't use alot of volume allowing for ya to cheese it that way.

also. allied crafts don't understand friendly fire here.... they shoot each other regularly.... they ram each other even when told to keep a 150 meter distance. the a.i is also unresponsive when you tell it to attack another craft, it will simply ignore your new command and proceed to attack the same craft. they overshoot their mark, even with some decent radar tech. they waste ammo and free-fire without aiming at the target, had that happen alot. i never had this issues before. now it rums rampart in this campaign.

do i really have to be some absolute genius to be able to survive against multiple factions attacking me at once? or is it too unbalanced, even on the easiest of difficulties...? you people decide.... i know i aint the most experienced. but do i have to really be a god to survive getting doppleganged? i can kinda survive dustwind. but not the steel empire within mere minutes of starting

also.... can you please change the lightning hoods "Tanks" section to "Hovercrafts".... please.... it would feel better anyways. and will the T.G get some proper mechs with legs? they have something going there with things like the black widow.... but the concept wasn't fully explored in my opinion. i reckon the T.G could be a really creative faction if you dev/s give them a few walkers to spice things up :O most factions have creative designs but too many use wheels.... and the T.G could do with a creative touch in my opinion.... its not that they aren't creative... but theres unexplored potential although :O

overall... the campaign sucked for me, i barely made it past 15 minutes and simply gave up after getting doppleganged and after so many issues. the craft designs were good and unique although. the whole ground theme is fun and so on... but things seem way too unbalanced early on and theres too much terrain to defend, especially when you can simply get doppleganged and loose it all within 1 or 2 attacks. as much as i like the game.... this really fell flat for me. i wen't in with an open mind, only to have all that time wasted for a lost cause... i look forward to seeing what comes later but for now. i am not going to touch that campaign again...

From what I've seen most people just build some cheap drones in the vehicle designer and spam those around the bases.

As for me, I use a custom version of the campaign without volume limit (actually that's the only difference, lol) and I've build 2 tanks so far. Now I just need a decent, cheap drone and I'm good to go.

Solution lies in mobile air units or something of the like. That or rushing the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to steal their stuff.

1. I Never use alloy. I wouldn't know. Metal seems to hold up fine for me tho.
2. I Never use shields. I wouldn't know.
3. The best counter to a swarm is a swarm of your own.
4. I Never use CRAM. Wouldn't know. I generally use APS saturation fire with the idea that "If I fire enough shells, one is bound to hit."

A way around this is to use combined arms tactics. Some air, some long ranged missiles etc. I personally just space my units over a really wide area.
Never found this free-fire issue though.

ROFLstomp the dustwind ASAP, basically anything metal will cut through them like a hot knife through butter.

A key tactic is to board SE tanks and take all their sweet sweet resources. Why waste time mining instead of committing land based piracy?

What craft were you using? Maybe they weren't well optimised for ground battle?
I personally think the ground campaign is far easier than the sea one.

From my experience, missiles have a habit of one shotting most tanks. Having a load of cheap heli drones with missiles would be a good start. Try to add more extractors to the starting bases as well to increase your income.
