Can you control it manually? Can you shoot the CRAM (the barrel should still be able to move some)? Did you make sure there's nothing blocking it (possibly make sure using "idle-angle" setting on the turret's base-block)?

i can shoot it in manual mode but the ai refuses to use it

If you set autodetect to 0 in the physics-settings that could cause it (if you have no detection on your craft). However, I doubt that's the issue.

Did you place a LWC (local weapons controller) within 2m in a straight line of the turret's base-block? Is the LWC connected to a mainframe? Are the shells able to reach the target (can you not just aim, but also hit with the cannon manually)?

do you want me to send you a picture of my cannon?

That would be best

Imagine it like this

The X is the turret. The local weapon controller (LWC) can be in any of the open spaces. (It can also be below it, but that’s a little hard to show)
You can place it on the hull of the ship, or you can place it on turret itself, just make sure it’s within range. It will say controlling 1 cannon (even if it’s missiles or just a turret) It will need to be connected to the mainframe for the AI to control it

........[_]
........[_]
[_][_][X][_][_]
........[_]
........[_]

Summary
• is the AI connected to the LWC
• is the LWC controlling the turret
• can the AI see the enemy

If this doesn’t fix it send us a picture and I’ll be happy to look at it

(I’m back. Got a little burnt out. I’ll be keeping an eye on these so fourgreenfeilds has some support)

your not using a spin block instead of a actual turret ?

Best would be the blueprint and a screenshot. But a screenshot would definitely help, yes.

Ah I see. That’s an easy fix

You have your LWC above AND to the side of the turret
Try putting it directly next to the turret, like in the space before the turret block

While you’re at it I would recommend replacing the wood blocks with wood beams, as you get an armor bonus

Right now you have it like this
X = turret
Z = local weapon controller

....[Z]
[X]

Because the LWC is on the diagonal, and not within a 2m straight line, it won’t control the turret

Yea, looks like what xloHolx said. Either mount the LWC on the turret (1-2m to the side or above in a straight line), or 2m below in a straight line (not right below - if you place a turret block on an LWC it will work, but the entire turret will "pop" if the LWC dies. Allways place turrets on robust materials like metal).

Also, this doesn't look like a failsafe will help. Fireing restrictions are likely the better choice (you'll need them anyway, to prevent the turret getting stuck on the superstructure).
