My anti missile cannons don’t work
The block is connected to the main frame and it can detect missiles but it won’t turn to aim or fire
Help me please

(I wouldn't be entire suprised if its just the game. CWIS are kind of horribly underbalanced; their detection radius is 2 freaking feet and THEN you have to deal with the time it takes the turret to rotate around. I'm also not sure exactly how much it is, but the anti-missile AI seems to have a sort of slow refresh rate; so a faster missile usually gets ridiculously far before being detected, despite the apparent range increase.)

You appear do be doing it wrong. Even a small 3x3x3 CIWS can take out a bunch of missiles just fine, and a bigger flak-based CIWS will take out nearly any amount of missiles without even trying.
Also, thou shalt not use the imperial measurement chaos.

Thx will post blueprint for cannon only when able to access computer so I can be helped

Cannon based AMS (CAMS?) needs to have a very high fire rate, which means belt fed low calibre multibarrel overclocked with a laser range finder and timer fused flak warheads. Set it for indiscriminate firing, 180 degree accuracy before fire. You also need a deep magazine size, typically 100+ rounds and a very high wait before reload.

LAMS is much easier to set up.

(LAMS also fire within' their firing arc instantly)

I know lams is better but I want a realistic anti missile system

LAMS isn't better. Only thing it's better at is shooting shells.

Afaik CIWS need to be on a turret. Also having both a missile and a weapon controller placed on the turret might not work.

@Sandor i use the anti-missile + weapon controaler combo all the time. Last i checked it works fine. whenever a missile is detected the cannon switches to missile killing duty and is useualy pointing the right direction in advance thanks to the normal controaler.

PS you dont have to use flak rounds. a well turned He or even Frag round can be just as if not more effective depending on the turret. heck you could if you wanted make a very high fire rate solid round cannon and have it work.

You don't need flak, but for larger calibres it's the best way to do it.
The explosion-radius hardcap of 11m doesn't apply to missiles, so you could even launch a shell a dozen metres into the air every 10 seconds, and destroy every missile, torpedo, mine, and bomb within nearly half a km. The increased radius, compared to HE, far outweighs the reduced damage. Frag requires some luck to hit in the first place, and you'll have trouble if the missile does evasive manoeuvres (e.g. due to losing and regaining lock often).

That said, HE-based CIWS might be usefull still, if you intend to use it for anti-vehicle work as well.

Good point of the crazy flak :D. Ive only realy worked with frags in this case. I should try HE though. one advanatge with frags is unsheilded fighters and small boats. It can shread them fast though anything sheilded i guess would be immune.
