Wood or Surge Protectors?
Are surge protectors even worth it?

yes, as far as I know, Surge Protectors pull the EMP charge towards them, so you can put some Surge Protectors on a wooden deck of your ship so it is forced to go through the wood and loose alot of damage potential before reaching the Protector block

With wood or stone you can build entirely EMP-proof compartments for your AI or lasers or stuff. But surge protectors are much smaller, and will still soak up a crapton of EMP-damage. Much better to protect LWCs and stuff.

I'd say use wood or stone to protect your AI box (obviously with heavy armor outside of that), maybe put a couple of Surge Protectors in/around there.
But mostly put surge protectors near your local weapon controllers, detection systems, etc. Which I always forget to do.

Heavy Armor takes actual damage from EMP, I would put another layer of metal around it

how near is near? like I said above, Surge Protectors will attract the EMP wave so, I rather want it to steer away from my sensitive components rather than placing it right next to them

AfaIk, EMPs only take the neighbouring blocks into account, so surge protectors wouldn't "pull" EMP strikes through your AI or stuff.

Actually, EMP finds way to maximize it's damage, minimize protective drainage.

This algorithm causes its path toward surge protector as surge protector has high resistence against EMP, calculating as if absorbing heavy damage.

And that seems to 'attract' EMP path.

I should do some testing on this.
