Nagaya told about secondary classes which can be get during story quests in Navea after level 40. Any (except same as main class) class is possible for subclass so for each of the 11 classes there are 10 subclass possibilities and making total class combinations 11*10 = 110.
When talking about classes it is important to divide main and subclass from each other because subclass skills have 3x longer cooldown than they would have as a main class and you won't get access to Envoy's Path of subclass. Most skills are identical for main & sub but some skills have better bonuses for main class than subclass.
Guardian and bard have clear roles, one is tank and other is healer.
I'd say that ravager, wizard and bow are AoE classes; ravager melee AoE and two others are ranged AoE. Each of these can deal quite great damage and are often helping with clearing instances from mobs.
Single target damage dealer would probably be duelist and katar. Both of them can get quite good skill that has additional DPS effect which stacks, duelist can stack their DPS up to 5 times and katar can stack it up to 3 times. Duelist can get quite great evasion if they are build well and katar can be quite tanky because their Inner Strength healing has -20% dmg taken bonus effect (only for main class).
I'd say gunslinger, grenadier and sorcerer could be support classes. Gunslinger for their traps, grenadier for their turret and sorcerer for their sleep totem. These classes are great as main classes but quite popular even as subclasses. For example quite many bards go for sorcerer as sub.
I have played tachi only a little bit (got it to around lvl 36 or 37) so I'm not quite sure where I'd place them but their damage seems quite good, some of their skills seem to have wider area of effect than duelist and katar so I'd say tachi might be somewhere between single target classes and AoE classes. Their Soul Storm requires Soul Blade being in use which consumes souls you get from other attacks.
Few examples of different class combinations:
main/sub
guardian/bard - this is basically tank with heals, lacks damage but is harder to kill
guardian/duelist - lacks healing but deals better damage
guardian/ravager - same as above but deals area damage
bard/sorcerer - heals, sleep and nasty attacks, great combination
grenadier/bard - same what botters are using, most grenadiers are probably these
duelist/grenadier - usually used for pvp because of stuns from sub and high eva from main
My favorite is currently katar but I have also enjoyed battle bow and sorcerer too.
I can't really tell what classes you might fun or boring, you should try to find it out by yourself.
Try different classes maybe to around level 10-18 and select one you enjoy the most. And later, when you can select subclass, take sub that supports your main class somehow. Subclasses can balance your main class a lot so try to think carefully. If you notice you aren't using your subclass at all then you probably selected wrong subclass. If you notice you are using your subclass too much (much more than main class) then you probably selected wrong main class.
