I'm running on windows 8 with no issues, maybe it's the channel, location or isp.

Try this:
1. Go to your Command Prompt (cmd.exe and run it as admin)
2. Type (without the quotes): "ipconfig /release" then press Enter.
3. Type (without the quotes): "ipconfig /renew" then press Enter.
4. Type (without the quotes): "ipconfig /flushdns" then press Enter.

It might help.
