They then told me to contact Aeria ... I swear these devs need to work crap out before they tie into steam. Never have I had a problem before this.
Also if we are going based on reputation, Steam has a stelar reputation, aeria games has a dodgy reputation based on my quick google : http://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/www.aeriagames.com
Could be, however i doubt it. Things like this aren't uncommon in mmo's, they have to track many orders so sometimes it just takes time, other times it just got lost in transaction, if i were you i'd calmly ask them where the thing you bought is and say that if you don't eventually receive the product you'll have to report them to steam.
Contact steam support, be patient about it too :P
No such thing as "There goes $5 dollars". if you buy something they are legally bound to provide you with what was bought. :)
Only time "there goes $5 dollars" applies is when idiots don't chase their obligation therefore letting them get away with it. If this is the attitude you wish to have, don't ask for help :P
im having the same problem and this is like the 5th problem ive had with Aeria games as a whole....
