The simple answer is, you're not dealing enough damage. The game is not only balanced, but designed around you defeating enemies quickly. It makes the classes like Bard entirely useless, especially since most of the time, you will get one shot anyway.
I play Bard myself, and had to get carried through Whirlpool Abyss for the main quest. I physically did not inflict enough damage to clear it in time, and I physically could not. I grinded excessively, was grossly overleveled, and had the best gear available to me, using high level food buffs, and I still could not inflict enough damage.
Try a Holy Sword or a Reaper, and you will see just how easy everything becomes. You will catch up to your Wizard in a third the time. You will be able to solo Hell Mode dungeons. If you don't defeat Rabisu when you stun her, she will one shot you with an unavoidable attack. This is true of most bosses at level 70+ zones.
Yes, I still main Bard. I just grind 100x more than everyone else to achieve the same results.
*theres probly better way but this is how I made progress with this my bard 'damn hard class to play'.
I just stop doing story and doing daily field qust til my character reaches lv 95 then start craft weapon and armor. accessory and trophy I just buy it in auction but need lots of gold so I was doing the goat worldboss for loyalty points and grab the weekly ruby in the item mall under loyalty shop tab and of cause you need to gamble your luck on the paragon table tab to get high price item and sell them to other player. upgrading gear also uses lots of gold and I just kep doing the paragon until i hav like +20 on all of my gear. I also did few other things like secretstones and stuff but I dont rly rmb. then going to the story dungeon my bard just 1 or 2 hit the boss. feels so satisfied
*mind you improving gear this way takes really loong time. I dont actualy remember when I start doing it so i can only guess. probably take me about 5 month or so.
*again theres probably better way, but this is how I made progress back then.
now my bard slv2 and I rarely touches that character. mostly play on my lancer and holysword.
