I like the way artillery is implemented as it consumes ammunition, which is rather rare. If artillery joins in the battle it can be a game changer, but to be able to use a massive barrage before an infantry attack you need to save ammo in advance and that`s a feature I like very much, because you have to plan it carefully where you want to try a breakthrough. And then you conserved ammo for an assault on the west front, but your troops at the east front are almost collapsing, so you have to use it to hold the frontline there. ...and postpone your assault plans for the west, which might be very bad, because you know, they just landed reinforcements and if you don`t hit them first, they will hit you even harder. But, since the east front needed all resources you only can hope for the best...
The feeling of success just for winning one hex back for your side is quite unique and different in this game and therefore I like it.
we've got about 200 games on all formats. The Commander Series is a great place to start if you like Panzer Corps:

As pointed out we also own the Close Combat franchise and have 5 games from the series on our site with more coming soon. We're actually working on a Unity version so it will be cross platform and that's coming later this year. All very exciting!

Distant Worlds is a very popular 4X sci-fi series which is being combined in to a Universe edition and coming soon.

Battle Academy is a tactical turn based game which has won a host of awards and like Panzer Corps has cross platform multiplayer versus iPad

For the more hardcore wargamer we have the Decisive Campaign series:

For the ultimate experience we have the War in the East series:

Matrix Games is part of the Slitherine group and actually has a lot more of the traditional counter wargames. You can see a full list of titles available from both sites here

Matrix

We've got games in pretty much any period in any setting, turn based, IGOUGO, WEGO, at every scale. You name it we have it!
We hope you enjoy!
I loved a review of another game that pointed out AE as scary complex
Both Slitherine and Matrix have a nice catalog of wargames
And anyone saying the graphics makes it look 'easy' and not 'serious' likely has never played it either. I have the entire set of Battle Academy, it has been the best gaming purchase I have made in my entire digital gaming life. I will even say I prefer it over Civilization (although Civ is a close second).
Slitherine group though has a range of games that is particularly vast. From the ultra hard core titles like War in the East and War in the Pacific as well as World in Flames, all of which are perhaps the pinnacle of squeemish need not apply, to the real time stuff like Close Combat and Battles from the Bulge, and the more typically board game looking titles (too many to mention).
There are other publishers of wargames out there for digital platforms, but none have quite the volume of choices. John Tiller sure is trying hard though.
