Anybody remember 'Allied General'

Hi all, I used to play a game called allied general. When I upgraded from windows 95 it stopped working and I was gutted. Is Panzer corps similar in nature to this game?
I bought hearts of iron and it was far to complex for me to be enjoyable.
I never played panzer general which all the reviews compare it to.

Panzer Corps will remind you of panzer/allied general in many ways. One of the downsides to the game is that it doesn't have a battle scene within a bubble on the screen. They have implemented a few new tactics and so on in panzer corps. IT will be moderately more difficult, so you will have to do a little bit more planning..I suggest you pick up panzer corps before any of the DLC, the difficulty of the DLC will smack a few verterans across the head lol

is there anyway to rename your units like you could in panzer general?

I loved allied general but my favorite was pacific general. I hope they remake this also.

I queried the devs on this, and they replied the majority of people did'nt like it so it was'nt worth the time and effort. :(

Much better than Order of Battle: Pacific IMO

It includes this massive 60+ scenario (i think?) campaign with the japanese, from the initial invasion of china all the way to a possible invasion of the US that goes long enough for you to capture washington.

There is also possibility to play as the US (and australian forces) that follow the historical path.

you can grab Panzer General II, Pacific General, Fantasy General on GOG .... they are still fun and seem to work on modern machines (hoping they bring Allied General out as well) I'm still toying with grabbing this, but my back log is a bit high.
