Order of Battle: Pacific or Panzer Corps DLC?
I have $50 and am wondering if I should get Order of Battle: Pacific ($40) and then the first two grand campaigns ($10, are they any good)? Or if I should get Allied Corps/Afrika Corps ($30) and almost all of the grand campaigns?
Thanks!

Depends mostly on which theater you prefer I guess.
I most likely would buy the complete grand campaign. Getting almost all of it doesn`t really make sense to me.

Grand Campaign + base game = A mammoth.

The base game is very quick, covering just the major engagements on a regional or national scale.

The Grand Campaign is a lot more localised, a small cog in a bigger machine. Thus you'll see the ebb and flow of battle in terms of technological prowess and setbacks and advancements a lot more. It will take hundreds of hours to get through.

Allied Corps is a much more linear affair, but you get to be the Brits/Americans so it is a change of pace. Afrika Corps is more of the same.

Order of Battle is a slightly different beast, the campaigns there were a bit more disconnected for me, and the game itself is a perfomance hog, even on a decent rig. On that basis, even though OOB isn't exactly a bad game, it is one I'd only suggest picking up on sale tbh.

Personally I'd elect for the Grand Campaign and hold off on buying much more than that, because it should take you forever and a day to get through.

Panzer Corps has Pacific Corps mod, so your not really losing on anything.

Dont underestimate the mods for this game, Pacific Corps offers more content than Order Of Battle. The Pacific Corps one has a complete graphical overhaul along with new mechanics for naval warfare.

And thats only one mod alone, there are also complete campaigns for Finland,Hungary,Italy and even Croacia.

Order of Battle has no such mods (yet).

Anyone?
The modders are Germans. The mod afaik is German too. But maybe they made a translation.

OOB and PaCo are different games, it is the same type, not the same games, just Europe and Pacific. There are some important changes and graphics very different too. I think that the Pacific Corps mod is the same, not OOB.
Watch some gaming videos on Youtube to learn OOB better and make your decision.

I say, wait for sales and get all of them. They are great games, each in its own way, just a little bit overpriced. Buying at 33% off would be perfect.

I don't suppose anyone could make an idiot's guide to installing that Pacific War mod? I've used the GME to install a couple of fan campaigns (Hungary, Italy and one other). I'm lost in terms of which files are which for the mod above.

All DMP mods are self-installers, install the mod somewhere, copy the files from the original Panzer Corps to the folder you installed the mod and voila!.

There is no need for GMP.

Check the readme to see which files you need, i remember its the main .exe plus 2 other files.

And since we are on the topic of mods, this is the list i made a while back to answer another question on a nother thread, i hope this is useful:

Fourth Question:
You get to play as Germany most of the time, but sometimes with assistence of its minor allies.
In the Africa DLC, you can play with the Italian units, which have their unique arsenal.

BUT with the wonderful community we have, there are many fully developed (by that i mean including cutscenes/briefings/new graphics that allows you to play as pretty much every minor nation, each with its unique story/briefings & missions, all freely avaiable on the forums/mod sites.

The briefings & "immersion" you can have with these can be very fun, save for the fantasy scenarios, some also have very cool historical notes to go along the mission info :)

Let me tell you, these campaigns might be mods, but with how easy and simplistic Panzer Corps is, they are, in many ways, on par (or better than) the main game in terms of quality. I cannot stress this enough.

Italian Campaign, by Uhu:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6T_IZyP0mY
This one allows you to either follow the historical path or even make italy the decisive nation to win the war for the axis, as the briefing in the mod says "Show our german allies & the world the power of our type of blitzkrieg!" :D

It is currently my favorite Panzer Corps Mod :)

Finland's campaign, "Winterkrieg" by the DMP team:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5W5us5vp0JU

You can even win against the soviet union in this one (and i dont mean the historic finnish victory, but to actually advance and take Leningrad!).

Hungarian Campaign, By McGuba:
http://slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=147&t=36969

Follows the historical path of Hungary during WW2.

Another Hungarian Campaign, this one by Uhu:
http://slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=147&t=42488
Its still in the making, but this one promises a fantasy path where Hungary might just turn out to be that one force that would tip the scales against the Soviets.

Slovakia:
http://slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=147&t=40309
A small mini campaign that follows the Slovak army in their endevors on the eastern front.

And now the biggest one, this is a massive total conversion and it looks and plays (IMO) better than the main game itself:

Pazifik Korps, by the DMP team:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_nLs0BFc6E

Its a MASSIVE mod that has a complete make-over (100% new graphics), features new moving character portraits for every briefing (something the original doesnt even have). It has a massive Japanese Campaign with over 40 levels, that goes from the invasion of China to even a fantasy scenario of conquering Australia & the US. It also features a US campaign, that follows the historical path.

This particular mod is, IMO, better than any of the current Panzer Corps DLCs and it should be a "must check" for every fan.

As you can see, pretty much every active Axis faction (except Romania) has had their chance to shine in Panzer Corps, if you like playing the less famous/popular nations, this game is awesome in that regard!

I hope i have answered all your questions :D
OOB is a great game, and personally I enjoy the Pacific Theater a lot better. It all comes to your likings imho, which theater of war you'd like to play. Also, OOB has better graphics, animations and runs smoother. However you'd at least need a decent computer to run it.

Yup, thanks. The latest Pacific Corp mod comes with the english mod pre-installed (or I just got really lucky with my download), so it was easy enough. Download, replace the files and bam, Pacific Corp.

And yeah, the Italian Campaign is great. Just finished it the other day. :D
