(Maybe I've got something wrong, please patch this post,)
Air Units:
Receive supplies around airfields.
Receive replacements at airfield hex.
A. AIRCRAFT CARRIER provide supplies and replacements ONLY at same hex.(but your CV could provide 2 services per turn)
B. Watch out your fighter fuel, most of them have small capacity and very easy to crash from out of fuel, if you see RED DOTS at your aircraft movement, that's means air units unable to reach nearest airfield or aircraft carriers inside red dot areas.(you will see red dots often by commanding UK and Soviet fighters)
C. Strategy bombers CAN'T getting supplies or replacements from aircraft carrier, they have to find airfields. In some amphibious attack battles, you won't have any airfields at 1st turn and your strategy bombers are always at red dot map until captured 1st airfield.
Ground Units:
Receive supplies for whole turn(by clicking "supply unit" icon) or just let units idle 1 turn.
Receive replacements/Elite Replacements by clicking the icons.
Units in desert receive only half of supplies, but not affect airfields.(aircraft receives normal supplies at desert airfields.)
Snow ground costs double fuel.
Muddy.....I forgot.
Receive supplies are FREE(cost no prestige), receive replacements are cost prestige, receive ELITE replacements are COSTLY.
Enemy nearby, excluded air units nearby but above one counts.
1 Enemy: 2/3 replacements and max replacement at 9.
2 Enemies: 1/3 replacements and max replacement at 7.
3 Enemies: Units unable to receivere replacement or supplies.
Lose supplies:
Ground units bombed by Strategy Bombers.(B17, B24, Lancaster, Halifax, He111, He177, Pe8, P108...etc)
Units may lose 1/2-2/3 ammo and fuel from such bombardment.
I think I've twigged the bit I was missing: you can only resupply if the unit hasn't moved or attacked (otherwise, the 'supply' icon is greyed out... that's the thing that was confusing me!)
That too! Can't see anything about that in the manual :/
Replacements are entirely different you can't turn them off.
