Potions - How do they work? am I missing something? How do I get the Alch Table?

I just got the 3 puffer fish and 3 bear livers to create the resist potions for the mermaid quest. How do I actually make the potions though? It doesn't show anywhere in the recipes. Am i not far enough in other quests? The alchemy table is locked at the merchant so I am unable to buy it but I have level req.. What am I missing?

Hi! Thank you so much for the question. The potion-making mechanic is not too complex but does require some experimentation and exploration in the game. Now that you have the Alchemy Lab, you can create potions there. Potions only use ingredients that drop from hostile mobs (like bears, wolves, zombies, ghouls, spiders, etc.) plus amanita mushroom and pufferfish. Different combinations of these ingredients produce different potions. The game doesn’t provide recipes for them. We thought it would be fun for players to try and discover them all on their own. How good an idea that is—we’ll find out soon :) I can tell you that there are about a dozen and a half potions in the game. So, to create many different potions, you’ll need to explore the territory and defeat hostile creatures.

It's important to mention that aside from the quest with the Mermaid, potion-making is not a required process for completing the game. It sometimes makes things easier, as there are some very useful potions. But overall, if you don’t uncover all the potion recipes, there’s no need to worry. Potions may come in handy when you head into the cave, where there are many dangerous enemies. Either way, potions are a nice bonus with a mini-game of “discover all the potions.” That was our intention as developers.

Thank you for your reply, however when I speak with the mermaid is the alch lab an item that it gives me? If so, I didn't get it. Do I need to go to one of the houses on the map? It shows from the merchant but it just has a lock icon next to it with no level req.

As he said in his answer we should not put these ingredients and create the potion?
There is no recipe except the mermaid, can be try to place them in the cauldron.
Personally we have not yet unlocked the stage of the cauldron but we also have this quest

Actually if you read his reply, it says "Now that you have the Alchemy Lab, you can create potions there." I do not have the alchemy lab. Also your reply doesnt help at all because it isn't English. Not one of your sentences makes a lick of sense.

When you get the alchemy lab, put it down. You grab the ingredients and put one in the top slot and one in the bottom. Cook, and it gives it to you. Once you successfully make a potion once, it writes it in your recipe book under "misc."

I'm still working on trying to discover the healing potions; I've got the max health one, but not the healing ones. Google's not much help in the healing potion recipes, either.

Also trying to figure out what zombies drop; all I've seen them drop is cash and some random loot. Haven't run across any ghouls yet. Everything else either produces slop or has the recipe learned.

You need to complete the bear lady quest. She's off to the right if you head towards the windmill from your tavern. Follow the road. Complete the quest and it'll unlock the alchemy lab.
