Ranged: Pistol/Rifle/Shotgun - Which one do you use?
Per title. Melee aside, which ranged weapon do you find yourself using?

I was mainly using a Silent Rifle (when fecal matter hits the fan) until I ran out of ammo on a mission and switched to a super shotgun I happened to pick up. Great spread - can kill/♥♥♥♥ out a group of 4 in a single shot and works at the med range we tend to fight in.

Honestly not a fan of the rifles. I'm used to keeping my mouse button down so i can aim and get someone with one shot. Now when i do this with a rifle, it starts spitting out bullets left and right and maybe the third one will hit the target i'm after. If there would be a semi-automatic mode on them, i'd be all over them.

My vote would be Silenced Pistol.

Darn, in my mind, I see the semi-auto rifles and auto ones as 2 totally different class of weapons.
Sounds like you have a Rifle with the Automatic attribute. I find those really pointless as well.

I still have a semi-auto silenced rifle that allows the hold and aim function.

Silent Quickfire (Super)Shotgun is my favored choice here. One shot, and I can usually catch multiple targets at a checkpoint. The second shot catches anyone out of the cone or I miss.

When dealing with Armoured though? My Golden Gun with its Self-charging AP Lethal rounds was my favorite, in the fact I didn't have to hunt down blasted AP rounds anymore.

Personally I like my Silent Quickfire Concussive Shotguns more, as then I can use it on nonlethal missions and just slit the throats of those on the ground I want to kill. Wish I could find a AP concussive self-charging quickfire silent shotgun.

Loving my Silenced Concussive (Super) Shotgun as well. For some reason, the weapon store in my game tends to sell shotguns now.

Auto rifle by far is the best option. Requires more micro but it's the most usable in all circumstances. Quickfire pistols are too slow for attacking groups, but good for a good while. Shotguns are good at all points in the game, but need to care for explosives and can leave an enemy open that you don't notice.

Liberate places that unlock access to shotguns/super shotguns and those properties become more common on weapons in your friendly station stores.

Also this is has been my favourite gun so far:

Although this was a rather excellent ranged weapon as well:

I'm fond of this gun: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1153318704

If it was AP too then it would be perfect. Self recharging would be a bonus, too. But those are super rare (I've only ever found one.)

I rather liked my silenced rechargeable armor-piercing quick-firing concussive pistol.

Pistols in general, because I prefer to fire one shot that goes exactly where I aim with basically no risk of another shot hitting a wall, window, fuel can (not as much of an issue with concussive).

Groups can usually be thinned out before approaching the checkpoint itself. Situations where you need to go straight through a 4-5 person checkpoint without much opportunity for stalking individuals as they go check their email are relatively rare... and carrying multiple weapons (like those lovely armor-piercing longblades; or, hell, you can shoot somebody, pause the game, teleport that guy's gun into your inventory, use *that to shoot the next guy, fire your concussive gun now that it's probably off cooldown, w/e) lets you mitigate cooldown issues.

I pretty much carry only concussive stuff. The ability to kill an unconcious enemy via menu is a really helpful addition.

I tend to take on the 'ship is on its way to a base' missions. On my runs, I find situations where I have to fire on a group more common than when I really need to use a precise shot.
While using rifles, it was really annoying that I could not seem to find any quick fire ones as well.

Self charging, silenced, quickfire, AP, concussive super shotgun is the best that I have found (twice out of all my 40+ hours)

Actually, it is. Self-charging can pop up on regular Lethal guns and I've found two non-heirloom Self-Charging AP Guns (Not Concussion). One was Quiet that I called the Golden Gun and the other was Quickfire. Just note that the Lethal Guns will never state they are Self-Charging in their title only in their description

That was before I heirloomed it.

And here it was found by another person.

Note: I've found Self-charging Guns that weren't Armour-Piercing in the Rare category, but those really aren't needed with how common regular ammo is.
