Crash Beam works on them? Oh.

...and if you do need them dead, because they saw you and you're trying to maintain zero surviving witnesses -- if you knock them out and execute them, they will not explode.

Alternately, space 'em so they suffocate.

Really? I assumed the dead-man switch would go off anyway... didnt want to risk it.

Any non lethal damage, or space.

it's not a dead-man switch, or it would go off when unconscious. it's explosive armour, designed to make you fear attacking them.

I wouldn't wear it, knowing that someone opening a door in my face could mean everyone gets 'hotmatrixx' flavoured jam

Yeah, it's really contrived. I can't see anyone willingly strap on exploves onto themselves with the idea it's supposed to explode them into tiny bits if an intruder got onboard the ship and decided to shoot them.

It is a fun game mechanic though.

Have to disagree there. It says in the description, goes off with lethal damage --> Dead man switch. I've never heard of a dead man switch exploding due to unconsciousness in fantasy. I think more heartbeat monitor or total brain death. In DnD its a contingency spell. an angry mage who figures, "If I'm dead I'm going to blow everybody in the room away with me as well with a fireball." - Not exactly something a trained military professional would do because it would put his fellow soldiers in harm’s way, its definitely more a mercenary/guerilla tactic.

Edit: If you're picturing one of those hand-held buttons that they have to keep depressed at all times... I guess thats a bit too low tech for a future space game, I hadnt even considered it.

He means that if it was a deadman switch, it would go off if you got KOed then executed. And it doesn't. It's built into the armour. If a lethal attack penetrates the armour (light weapons on enemies without proper armour, and lethal AP attacks on armoured targets), it detonates. If they get KOed, all bets are off and you can get in close and murder with no issues.
