Armor piercing ammo

How do I use it? I seem to have 8 rounds of it

Some guns have the "armor piercing" tag on them. They use armor piercing ammo instead of standard ammo. However, such guns are very rare and expensive. You see them every now and then inside the miscellaneous shop.

that ammo is lying on the ground of ships at random; it looks like a litte blue card with 3 rounds of ammo, stacked like a picket fence.

the one that looks like a teardrop is money - usually 2-4 credits worth

It's to kill enemies with armor. With a amour gun

@Hotmatrix+McMoonMan - I get what it's far/how to get it, I was wondering if I could load a regular gun with it, as I had a personal mission where everyone was wearing armor.

Nope. Likewise, if you have an armor-piercing gun, it can *only* use armor-piercing rounds, AFAICT -- you can't switch to regular rounds for non-armored enemies but need to use a different, non-AP gun.

Aside from randomly showing up in the "special items" store or in crates (including the "overpriced mystery box"), there should be a base in Sovereign space that will provide more reliable access to armor-piercing guns in the gun store. AP guns, AP short blades, and AP long blades are all separate liberation bonuses, though.

Thanks. I wound up dying on the personal mission by trying to use an inventory full of grenade launchers and accidentally blowing up the part of the hsip I was on.

Or when you unlock armour piercing guns in which case you see them every time you go to the gun shop
