Confused about the Coldfire Pod
-The Sovereign Coldfire is a pod that is invisable to visual sensers

Okay... Visual sensores never gave me too much of a hastle anyway.

-Press the use button to activate the drive invisable to heat sensors

This is the part that confuses me greatly.

1: What the hell is a heat sensor and should I be worried?

2. If a heat sensor is that device some guards have where they detect you from a few feet away even through walls, how is that supposed to be useful? If I'm in a pod, they can't detect me in open space anyway.

Ships can have their own heat sensor (very rare) like the guards do. The Coldfire can dock without being detected by the ships sensor. Has nothing to do with sensors on the guards.

How rare we talkin'? Just curious, I've unlocked like half the galaxy and haven't seen this yet :o

You answered your own question.

Basically the heat sensor will detect your pod (if you are using the thrustors) within a decent radius of the ship. If they do, prepare to get missiled. If a ship has a heat sensor, it is nearly impossible to dock thier ship without the Coldfire. But, as you have seen, the heat sensor is a very rare thing for enemy ships to have. And, as long as you arent being an idiot, the visual sensors wont cause you any issues. Pretty much the Coldfire is a safety net ship for docking, so a mistake that causes you go into the sensors wont affect you and the (very) occasional heat sensor wont make that mission nearly impossible to do. Overall doesnt add much than a badass looking pod.

Glitch pod?

I've seen it only once, the sensor looks as if the ship had a shield that turns red whenever you are thrusting(but turning red matters only if you are inside the shield).

Glitchpod works fine so there's barely any reason to choose coldfire instead of glitch.

Also since the sensor range isn't that huge you should be able to in theory dock without detection if you just set your course properly outside the sensor.

I have only seen a single ship with these special sensors, and I have fully liberated every single station in a galaxy if that gives you any indication of their rarity. The Coldfire is pretty worthless

ive seen it twice, and the first time i accidentally docked with it without using the coldfire, just hold brake and thruster at the same time (allows you to precisely set your direction whilst stationary) aim yourself at the airlock, and release brake and stop thrusting as you enter the heat sensor area, sounds way more complicated then it is, its extremely simple and you wont be detected.

I think we can all agree the Offworld pod is just the best pod anyway. That and maybe the Brick.

Except that many people consider the Glitcher pod to be the best because it literally lets you insta-dock with any ship from a huge distance. For time limits it's super-useful (on par with the Brick in many ways) and for random piracy it's the best timesaving option.

I saved the whole galexy and never found one

Glitcher Pod is nice... can teleport from really far away... just make sure you docked with the correct ship... failed a mission because of that... the imposter ship had nice loot at least

The brick is fun, if it isn't the angel I'd choose the brick. Mostly because you can basically make your own entry point and because it's just goofy-fun to imagine the crew just sitting there playing solitaire and then a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pod blasts in through the wall.

You can find heat sensor ships through missions, in the mission details it will say 'Heat Sensors'.
I don't think they spawn randomly (if they do they're incredibly rare).
