Does anyone with a historical knowledge of this era know if in the 30's/40's some movies really were released with insane plot elements like I am seeing in Hollywood Animal?

Toxic Revenger I get, sounds like a low budget horror, but 'girl with a talking vagina that has tourette's syndrome' ??? :D I have to admit, making dozens of low budget trash movies really made the game fun again - and seeing the 'Sword of Christ' reviewer lose her mind was also good!

You should check out Freaks from 1932 or the Island of Lost Souls. There were a lot of controversial films prior to the code. You don't get movies like that anymore even without the code. Movies like these after the code were often shown in grindhouse theaters, drive-in theaters, and similar venues where there was less regulation.

There are a few that are fun, wizard war and toxic avenger are probably the best. but most are too specific? itd be nice if there still trash but more, adaptable trash instead of cant imagine more than one series doing this. Like siamese twin protagonist, sure, sheriff? oh I guess you could use that once, maybe some sequels but couldnt get multiple franchises out of it. While Wizard War and Toxic Avenger, sure could be plenty unique takes on that.

Yes, was Toxic Avenger I used to get the first Trash policy item, the 6 sequels - set it in space so only 2 locations and super fast filming, each sequel was 2-3 days shooting :D

I'm not well versed in the trash category when it comes to movies of the 30's and 40's, but a lot of these would more closely align to the 70's, 80's and 90's trash like the movies from Troma (Toxic Avenger is literally a Troma movie).
