Limited movie elements to be discovered?

I have 5 writers all 8+ stars with 80% chance of discovering a new elements, and they are now just all failing each time. I know its probably due to the fact that there is no more element to be discovered, but I feel like its would be reasonable that we should know if I have them all, so I don't have to waste time discovering again and again,

Also, looking at the elements I got, it doesn't feel right, I can name a tons of elements that I can think of is missing from my current list, there is a tons of movie that I can name that have elements I don't have in the game so far, is it yet to be developed? are they unlocked with certain criteria?

The elements also have a starting date after which they even are researchable. For example after the start of WW2 and Pearl Habour the writer can reasearch a bunch of new elemtents and locations. But it would be nice if the game would give hints that reasearch is viable at the moment in case you have already reseached all currently available elements.
