Can no longer promote films

I get to May 1930 and for no apparent reason I can schedule my films for release, but without the ability to promote or advertise them in any way. Game over!

Just asking, but did your research Marketing and Outreach? If you don't you cannot promote your movies. I forgot to do it once. I had to restart the game.

As mentioned above you have to research Marketing and Outreach first, THEN build the building you can build after that research. I research it first so that it is done and ready after your 3rd film (first 3 are paid for and handled by the computer but 4th on you must have that tech and building to do ads etc.

In one of my last games, my reputation was in the red, and as a result, I couldn't promote my movies anymore! Maybe that's why?

Yes, it's actually vital that the first thing you research from the distribution building is the first one on the left. That will allow you to build a promotion office and advertise. Without it, your movies will be dead in the water.
