Trash King
Has anyone tried to be Lloyd Kaufman and make a bunch of cheap garbage? Trash King seems under-powered compared to the other specialties.

I can see what they're going for with Trash King. It's fun, thematic, and flavourful. It's also very micro-intensive - You can produce films lightning fast and really get the most out of duration contracts.

I agree that it's not as powerful as the others - suffers from having essential pieces of the puzzle gated behind research (all the in-house post production, sequels, etc), and it's very difficult to get trash made without being expelled from the alliance.

I've heard a lot of people talk about getting expelled on purpose, but as far as I can tell, it also locks you out of the increased ticket price policy. This is absolutely massive. I'm guessing this will be less of an issue once the theatre management system is fully implemented?

I chose Trash King only to be screwed over just a year later by the Alliance voting to censor most of the trash elements, I had to leave the alliance because of it.

As I understand it for full release The Alliance will be one option of several

It also seems like a Studio Policy which could be more interesting in a later stage of the game, when things like television and VHS rental come into play.

I tried. After leaving alliance there was about 2 millions for a film/10-12 with alliance without trash tags. But for 1 task with 6 sequels i need super-fast writing and now play again.

The description of the task (6 sequels in 1 year) seems wrong. I think it should read "6 sequels within one year OF EACH OTHER)". I fulfilled this task and I am pretty sure it took longer than one year in total, but I just kept pushing out sequels and got it completed somehow.
I read that it's hard to play Trash King now due to the lack of freedom on the Alliance stuff. Has anyone gotten a smooth Trash King run going (as in, survived and thrived till 1940 and onward)? What's it like?

Trash king is a lot more fun, to be honest. You can make things faster, but you don't make as much money without the Alliance. Still, I was not having trouble still making some cash.

Once you release the sequels and unlock the first two achievements you can attach a previously released trash film on a double feature, which is neat.

I've been able to keep all of the good talent as well, you get all that new cheap talent in 1935, etc.

I am not sure about the last achievement though, release a film with a Pollux winning star. Does this mean you have to win the Pollux with your movie, or just have someone who has won one previously cast in the film? Wining a Pollux means rejoining the Alliance, and all that seems like a hard sell. Anyone know about this requirement?
you can leave Alliance? I dont have this option, it's blocked.

Break three times there rules and you're out:
- first time a warning
- second time 3 million pushiment
- third time they kick you out

You're able to rejoin later and start the cycle again ;-)

The problem with Trash King is that it's really really micromanagement intense.
25 movies in 3 month was too much for me
