Can't draw an audiance?
After the beginning where you have three free advertisements you have to start using your own marketing and hiring different advertiser groups, the issue I have is that regardless of how I advertise and for how long it will never draw a crowd, this is the same regardless of the quality of the movie, to give an example I would use two advertisers for 8 weeks costing (80,000) each, for a 5 star movie and it would bring in around 50% of the possible attendance amount and barely squeak out a profit. I was wondering if other people had similar struggles with attendance for movies?

I haven't had the same problem, have you made sure to start advertising at least a month before release?

I too am having a hard time with this. Originally you selected the target audience from 3 groups. Now you apparently get to choose from 4 different advertising options, but it isn't clear which option targets which group.

I usually make a little bit of profit (under a million), but have not ever come across a situation where I felt it desirable to extend a release past 4 weeks.

I don't know if or how much they changed in the second demo yet. But in the first demo I had good results with advertising starting 5 to 8 weeks before release plus 1 or 2 opening weeks. It wasn't profitable to advertise during the whole runtime of a movie.

But I have to test it again. They may have adjusted some values.

There are many more advertising upgrades that you can't unlock in the demo.
As such, you only get basic advertising controls. I recon that we will be able to select the target audience once we get more upgrades unlocked.

When you read the text for the four types of advertisment you get a sense which group it is aimed for. The first two is for adults, the 3rd is for teens and the 4th for kids. Correct me if I'm wrong here. Nevertheless I having a hard time as well figureing out how everything works. the tutorial is ♥♥♥♥, just shows the very basic things. In my latest run I researched the marketing dep right away but I still get enough movie goers so I'm losing money on almost every movie... and I dont really understand what I'm doing wrong which is frustrating lol

In the most recent demo I'm still able to make profitable films after I have to take care of paying for advertising, but I get the sense that they're not profitable enough, as I'm watching my studio funds gradually go in the wrong direction. After I built the statistics and analytics building in my first run in the new demo, the next film to enter the distribution phase was revealed to be best advertised toward young men, but there wasn't an obvious way to do that without also advertising toward young women, who were the demographic the film would be least suited for.

From what I can tell the options available in the demo boil down to older/middle aged adults, working adults, children, and young adults interested in the arts. The Dexter Storm trailer shows more options than those four, so hopefully the full release might allow us to more effectively reach our target audiences.
