Another Game Disappointment!
Wow, what a disappointment this game is! A game I've been looking forward to for a long time! My question is, do the developers actually play their games themselves? The game is currently unplayable because the game mechanics are completely broken. Any examples? This is my fifth attempt and things keep happening that you absolutely can't do anything about! My people are unhappy, you're bankrupt, and now the climax: suddenly, without me being able to do anything about it, I'm in the negative reputation zone because I helped the mayor! At first I thought, okay, not so bad, until I noticed that I can no longer promote my films! Game over again! And again no chance to counteract this! I have no desire to play anymore! Normally, research gets longer and more difficult as the game progresses! Here you have research that takes ages at the beginning, but research that you urgently need! And there's so much more! Another game you're looking forward to, only to be disappointed! Not a recommendation to buy at the moment! I'm excited to see what the developers make of it! But for now, thumbs down!

You're doing something wrong. I also had issues during my first game, went bankrupt in 1931. Restarted a game, changed the way i play and now eveything is rolling smooth, money, happy actors and successful films.

I've had a few bugs but never gone bankrupt. It's kinda impressive to manage it. You can practically show movies in just ur cinemas for free (19$ admittedly) and reap profit even if attendance is at 5%. With that in mind, I just drag movies out for two months. Sometimes even three.

And the ability to hire people for "one movie" means when a gem like rotten fates comes around, you can just fill it with talent. I got rotten fates released on a 9.1 audience acclaim and made 3 mill off it over three months of release. Benefited from the fact advertising was pre-paid as well, so no cost there.

After that, I kept going with middling movies making over a million each and my costs being low. Only stopped last night due to a bug freezing me on a screen.
Difficulty atm is in a strange place where if you do the "optimal" things its super easy, but if you don't do those then it feels impossible.

It was the first game where things were going well for me financially! But there were so many events that my reputation plummeted. Then came the mayoral challenge, and people hated that I supported the mayor, and my reputation sank even further! The result was that I couldn't promote my films anymore! And my reputation didn't improve either, so I had to restart, but I'm fed up! Not that 10-minute intro again! The many negative events in this game completely ruin the fun!

It takes some practice. I focused on reducing costs as much as possible. Cheap construction, cheaper employees in the employee center.
Expet for ma first attemtp, i never get bankrupt, but the game does not guide you for early financial sucess (on the other hand, it's an EA...)

What i found out was developping marketing then the theatre management build, so you can own all the theatre insteand of ranting them is a good srategy.
