A post to answer questions and help players
I see a lot of people struggling and you are not alone. The game is very very challenging. Like many of you I was stuck at 1932 and would always run out of money. So figured I would post some things I have learned.

-- Don't spam movies --
More movies more money right? I thought the same and spammed well made movies ....and went broke.

So last run I relaxed a little. When one movie was almost finished and ready to be edited make another one. This seems to work and I didn't go broke.

-- Build cheap --
Actually not sure if this is a good idea but I think for some buildings it is very important. Faster you get a building up the faster you can start progressing. My thought are fix everything later when you got money but cut corners NOW.

-- Sue me --
I won't go into too many spoilers but .... MAKE THEM EARN IT

-- Make your own movie scripts --
Use the storyboard when you can. You are 99% better at it then the screenwriters.
When buying scripts make sure click on them and check the story. Make sure it makes sense and keep in mind its the 1930s.

-- Don't pay too much for Talent --
I try to get all the buildings up to replace the talent on my roster. Actors REPLACE. DIRECTORS REPLACE. EVERYONE ..... wait wait your stuck with your editors and composers. But everyone else can be replaced with a cheaper contract. Do it immediately.

-- Movie schedules --
Most likely you want to run your movies at least 8 weeks. So make sure none of your movies interfere with each other. Also watch releasing your movie with the competition.

-- Independent movie theatres and marking --
Still unsure about what the sweet spot is. What I did was copy what they show you to do with your first movie. When it does it all and doesn't allow you to change it.

So all your movie theatres and about 500 independent in each of the others choices. I tried releasing movies with a score of 9 and maxed out all the movies theatres, and lost huge. Again not sure what the sweet spot here is. Probably buying all the theatres will fix this problem.

Make sure your marketing covers about a week before the movie releases and about 4 days after. Or something close to that.

How you market and what magazine is all about what movie you are making and for who. Not sure again what's the sweet spot here. Usually I go with the one that seems to cover both male and female. Can't remember the name.

-- Watches and moral --
Get watches as fast as you can. Better moral better movies. The watches fixed everything for me early on with moral.

That's all I can think of right now. If any of you have any questions feel free to post them on here. And for those of you that have answers I don't, like the marketing, feel free to give us some hints on what's working for you. Thanks!

Hello, and thanks for a "quick questeion - quick answer" thread ^^

I got a problem with suicides of my employee.
I'm in my second run and in january 1934
It's much easier and it's even easier than the first demo. I'm not sure the best rate, but rent 10000/10000/4000/0 can usually get 100% attending rate right now and it's impossible for previous demos. You just need to keep that rate for every movie, try to produce as much as you can, advertise as much as you can, and after you can buy theatres, you game is over. Near the end of the scene I get 900M in my balance and if I continue with normal stream line strategy I think I can reach 1.5B or even 2B.

That old lady right? You should let her film one movie and there will be no problem.

I heard about this but I think I fire her before this actually happens. Either that or maybe the watch fixed this?

At first her contract is zero dollars. So I kept her ofcourse but never used her. Then she wanted a new contract and I released her.

I actually have an old save loaded and was going to test. I'll try this out.

The point is she came back for art but you didn't even give her a chance. It's really disappointing isn't it? I think this is a series of event without obvious hint, not like task from those great figures which will have clear deadline and requirement.

Just remember: you are rich. The best strategy is signing best staffs at very first stage with 3-year contract, their skill level can promise that your movie can reach at least 5, sometimes 7. Don't worry about bankruptcy, if you release your first own produced movie ASAP you will have enough funds for future development.
Marketing
Week 1 - 10000
Week 2- 10000
Week 3- 4000
Week 4- zero

That actually doubled the money I was getting on movies. So silly because it makes perfect sense but instead I was just doing 500 to 1k across all 4 weeks.

Thanks Frank River
btw best bug I have gotten.

I stopped getting quest after the first mayor quest.

The fix is just to reload and it will fix the problem.

But if you're like me and went to 1938. Then quest all from the last 7 years are released on you at the same time . LOL

Will do. Restarting again ....

My movie building has always been great. 7-8 audience with medium level actors. Just was working with the wrong settings on marketing this whole time making money miserable.

One question though... do you always take every advertising and max out ?
Pedroig Apr 12 @ 4:27am
Best GENERAL RULE I can give for releases is to simply MATCH the Audience Score to the number of showings. So for a 5.0 Audience Score, have 5000 showings in Week 1 and 2, then reduce the number of showings by 10% BASE each week after that. So it would look something like this:

Week 1: TOTAL showings 5000
Week 2: TOTAL showings 5000
Week 3: TOTAL showings 4500
Week 4: TOTAL showings 4000
Week 5: TOTAL showings 3500
Week 6: TOTAL Showings 3000
Week 7: TOTAL Showings 2500
Week 8: TOTAL Showings 2000

Now one can actually drop off further than that with doing 20% drops after week 5. This also allows one to "stack" movies more, by only using one's own theatres in week 7+ and increasing number of rental theatres in those first two weeks, as they ALWAYS (currently Build 0.8) have 100% attendance.

Yeah, I don't upgrade technology related to analysing early so I just make sure I can cover all the groups. You will receive many criticise since there will always be some people don't like the theme of your movie, but at least revenue will be high.

@FlyinAllNighrt

No, not that person from the beginning. That is scripted.
Employees (m/w) that ends there lifes, withour reason for me. And I have no clue what or why it happens.

@own advertising
The newspapers and radios are dictated to target groups, like the three in the tuturiol. The info stands in the text.
I do three, because two of them advertising more than one group.

Might be just random elements. With time goes by some characters will die and it gives you some challenge. BTW I think it might be related to the happiness. I never experienced such kind of occasions since I always send gifts and happiness is always 100, but can you check the happiness of that employee?
Is there any difference between stage and location?
