What happens to my Actor? (Mysterious Red Icon)

Fairly early on, my most expensive actor suddenly got a red icon on his profile card—a symbol resembling a man crossing his arms. I didn't receive any notification or explanation about what happened to the actor. Additionally, the card itself is slightly shaded in red. When hovering over the icon with the mouse, no information is displayed.

The actor simply becomes unavailable for casting in films without any explanation.

One or two years later, the issue occurred again. Once more, one of my best and most expensive actors is marked red, and again, I have no idea why.

There are no notifications or explanations provided. I only realize the issue when trying to cast actors for new films and find out that suddenly it’s no longer possible.

This is particularly frustrating when it happens to very expensive actors.

I did. I had 2 or 3 rounds of protection to farm some XP for my bodyguard, and then without any notice, he just quit on me :(

Same here, it's like they get scared of being protected and just run away without notification.
Obviuslly, undesired gameplay experience, should be warning and notiffied

Did the Character have had a red Loyalty?, then the Character has probably left you, because of the low Loyalty to you.

Loyalty is important too, the same for Happiness.

it happend to 3 of my guys. All of them i had protection on, for several actions repeatetly. All (mostly) good morale and happiness (f.e. one had 86/82) as well as long contract. There was only the notification on top of the screen when they randomly left (after movie finished). Seems random and unintended
