I'd like a basic map...
We may not need a detailed open-world level map but since the enviros are so videogamy (and that's perfectly fine) I wouldn't mind a basic map thing to keep track of where I've been.

Does Dark Souls have a map? Maybe remember? The levels are linear with loops.

DS levels usually have very distinct features which let you get a feeling of where you are and where you came from. Take the mountain area after the monkey boss, they made it more open but it relies on the typical videogame topology of corridors leading to interconnected "rooms" which mostly look the same.

So yes, it would be great if at least for the more open areas you'd get a map to fill in so you can better explore them.

You can't remember one branching path? Seriously?

Obviously can't!

Would take a map. Why not.

But overall the demo was very very linear.

The map system in code vein was pretty alright (probably the one positive thing in that dreadful game), it didn't show detailed terrain info but its usefulness mostly came from displaying a trail for your last couple hundreds of steps.

I'm pretty good at navigating the locations of Dark Souls, but everything here is look the same, just the same textures of the walls and ground without landmarks, it’s hard to understand whether you’re going forward or backward.
Sounds like a you problem. I had zero such difficulty at any point in 20 hours.

Sounds like your life is kinda empty and all you've got going for you is arguing on internet forums.

Yes, I finished the demo, I thought it was awesome, I explored a lot and found a lot of hidden items, I still wouldn't mind a map.

Quite busy and productive thanks.

Cry harder you suck at understanding your surroundings in simple linear games. This game doesn't need a map at all.
I would actually love map I’m dying just running around it makes me not want to explore
I'm finally at Hismar. A couple locations do get a bit maze-like but it's reeealy not that hard.

I used these maps to find missing things after my blind first run through levels: https://gmtreks.com/khazan

There aren't any for side-quests afik
